Greetings, all.

It was the end turn of a PBEM game with the Coral Sea scenario. I was the Allied player and I'd received my opponent's password so I could see the final situation. During the replay, CVL Shoho got severely beaten by USN planes, but didn't go down. It was barely afloat but it was not sunk. Later on I reran the replay and this time I got the message that the Shoho sank! It was duly listed on the sunk ships list, too. I reran the replay a few more times, and sometimes the Shoho went down and sometimes it didn't. Again, this is the final turn and I am using the opponent's password to open his file (my file originally sent to him, actually).

Viewing the end game status, it seems the Shoho suffers a different amount of damage every time I load the replay, i.e. it has different Sys-Fly-Fire and Speed values. The values are always very high, but they vary. Why is that?

You sure you're not just running into fog of war here? Every time you run the replay the game probably re-calculates what your pilots *think* they see.

So, in the world of fact, the carrier went down.

In replay #1, your pilots report they dropped some bombs on her, but she was afloat when they finished their runs.

In replay #2, one of your pilots happened to turn over his shoulder as he was flying off and see the carrier roll over and sink.

No, it's not FOW. It's the last turn and I can review the final situation from the Japanese side. When the Shoho goes down, it shows on the sunk ships list. When it doesn't, it gets separated into its own TF and shows a different amount of damage every time I run the file.

Mind you, when the Shoho sinks and gets separated from the rest of the CARRIER PATROL TF1, it receives no escorts. Viewed from the Allied side, it's a TF with "ships sighted: 0". Zero sighted ships in a sighted TF doesn't make much sense.
