Thin blood is the problem. All skin is the same thickness. Except, of course, for the callouses on my wife's feet, which she claims would withstand the fiery furnaces of Nebuchadnezzer for at least week.

Yes you are correct. What happens is that the blood capillaries get closer to the skin in warm climates. This improves the effects of evaporative cooling when you start to sweat. Of course in cold climates this is bad. The capillaries are deeper when you have lived in cold climates. This improves insulation

Having lived in a warm (freaking hot!) climate all my life, I take issue with your assertion. My capillaries haven't migrated one nanometer. Either that or my evaporative cooling system is just incapable of dealing with 60% humidity and 95F. So no, I don't acclimate to warm climates. Must be my Scottish gene pool.
