For me it's still Battles from the Bulge. I'm beginning to think this may be another vaporware game it is taking so long.
2nd would be That Walker game that's been in production for like 5 years now I think. It's the one that looks a bit like Squad Leader with the units it uses. Been so long I forgot the name of it.
Maybe something from Western Civilization this year?
Missing Koios games for sure was really wanting the Western Front game soon.

1) Modern Wars: Volume 1
2)Any WCS game coming out this year that uses a newer, more modern engine.
3) World in Flames if it is released this year.
4) Fallout: New Vegas
5) Starcraft II
6) Half Life 2 Episode 3(if it comes out this year)

I don't think this game fits the criteria for the thread's subject... it should more correctly be listed in the "What game are we looking forward to in 2009" thread.

Whatever the new East Front wargame is called that is the sequel to Gary Grigsby's War in Russia.

Flashpoint Middle East.
Distant Worlds looks pretty nice.
Field of Glory expansion(s).
Lock n Load promises much and I hope it delivers.
Din's Curse.
Silent Hunter V.
Any decent wargame or RPG really.

I’m hoping there will be a follow up to Musket & Pike: Renaissance that covers the battles of the 17th Century: the English Civil War and the Thirty Years War.

Modern Wars: Volume 1 looks interesting. It would have to be very good to ween me away from WinSPMBT though. Especially as WinSPMBT will be upgraded again in a couple of months.

Also interested in expansions to Field of Glory. Especially if there is one for the Renaissance.

The game which will define a new standard for good AI in wargames.

The game with a great and easy to use editor. The editor will of course allow for extansive tweaking and modifications of the AI.

War in the East.
World in Flames.
Heroes of Stalingrad (yeah I know they're busy developing the game... but it does seem to take forever)

And I'm very *very* curious as to what Victor, the creator of Advanced Tactics, will come up with next. He says it will be more "grognard", and if the few games he's working on, will have the same playability as Advanced Tactics....

Gah! I forgot about Distant Worlds. I'd say I'm still anticipating Elemental even more, but DW is a close second at this point.

So did you have any actual particular game in mind? Or is this simply what your hypothetical game would have, if it exists?

Mine would be:

1/ Panther's Battles For The Bulge

2/ Ludovic Covals's Combined Arms:WW2 (formerly Battlefields)

3/ Gary Grigsby's remake of WITE

4/ A Warplan Orange version of WITP: Admirals Edition

Unfortunatley, there is no particular game which fits this criteria, so this is the hypothetical game that I most want to see in 2010.

1) Battles from the Bulge
2) Field of Glory expansion
3) Theatre of War 2 - Kursk

Interestingly, all of these are built upon existing games. I really enjoyed Panther's Arnhem and Ageaen games and know the Bulge one will be even better. I never thought I'd bother trying TOW2, but the Centauro add-on gave it a major boost IMHO, and I can just about deal with pausable realtime . I've been hooked on FoG since it came out, since I've been really waiting for a decent ancients slugfest and this one just keeps getting better.

Well some of these have been mentioned, but they bear repeating:

1. Panzer Command Volume III

2. Combined Arms (formerly Battlefields I think)

3. War in the East

4. World in Flames

I'm curoius about Battle of the Bulge, I've looked at COTA and the demo for the earlier game, but I'm not convinced I would enjoy that type of map interface. I think maybe I'm "hex-centric".

Well Rick, we'll be putting out a demo for BFTB. So you can try before you buy.
