Need oil now. Before sea lanes around Japan completely shutdown. Better move some resource to Takao also.

Turns out you cannot amphibious invade Russia while it is inactive. Had to send units across the border. Moving at 3mph a day through the country, not going to tie down anything like that! Moving down the main railway nicely, into the largest troop concentration. Now TF are parked waiting for land war to activate things. No comment from Tim yet but I am sure the bag will be up soon.

Any chance of doing a Pearl-Harbor type strike on the Soviet Navy?

No idea where the Soviet navy home port is. I can find out and take one carrier up there, sounds good to me. Just gotta do it before Tim shows up with some US CV's.

Less than a week into fighting in Russia and I feel I am getting SPANKED already. Too much disruption on landing s of Vladivostok, evacuating now before I loose the units completely. Going to deliberate attack Okha next turn. Hope that goes quickly, need oil.

Have lots of air to attack soviet shipping but I think Tim is too wise for that. Wish I was as smart about Sturms, where did those come from??? Did not help CV Aso followed a convoy into a coastal hex and lost it's CAP. Everything been going sour since.

If he makes a land mass of units like he should I will be getting pushed out to China and beyond. Glad there is that river on the border now. Gotta put the units below strength at Hailar on accept replacements quick!

Getting out of here. Too many Soviets show up too quick. Was a good distraction.

Try and load up as much as I can. Does not look like there is enough un-disrupted to hold.

Pushed everything out except the fort so far. Do not think I will be heading farther south too soon. More likely the flood will be northward. All my units crossing the border to the west of here should be moving soon...... soon, hear that guys.

Getting exp. Finally feel like I have an air arm again. Not dominating like the Allies farther south.

Only other plus I have is transports at Palembang and Batavia have been flying supplies into Singapore. Almost every unit there is supplied now. Wish I had been doing that 12-24 months sooner.

Got some Kamis at Manila trying to hit unescorted convoy 7 hexes west of there. Big group of shis coming from the south at the same time may upset those plans. This could be a Luzon landing. Just got a big aviation unit on board at Legaspi(?). Time to head out because the 4E guys came around last turn.

Short note for now. US carriers right off coast of Japan. Was just thinking I need to free up some fighters for escort in case of that, too late this time. Uncoordinated strikes all wiped out. Had many Betty up north watching for Soviet navy. Far as I can tell there is no Soviet navy in this game.

I am happy that not every strike aircraft launched and was wasted against the wall of CAP. I think I can match him but not enough pilots will survive to defend against 4E threat. Looking to reset for this in a day or two, less fighters needed at Konan anyway.

Okha, should have landed all 4 Div there plus tanks after all. Moving a HQ there to try and reduce disruption. A Burma Ind Bde available at Tokyo, wait for the waters to clear and try to rush it north. Lone Carrier TF headed that way 2 days ago, missed the US carriers by just a little.

Getting some transports into Saipan soon to move some things out. Hopefully I can get them back to the home islands to be of some use.

Holding in Russia for now, only because Tim has some rivers and distance to cross for now I am sure.

Try to get some screen shots for Tim later, let's see if long range CAP helps my merchies next turn.

If I do not get oil from Okha in Dec 44 there will pretty much be no 1945 for Japan.

Still brooding over lack of response to allied carrier strike right off the coast of my home islands. Have gotten in the wrong mind set over Allied ability to destroy my air power at will. If only the carriers would need to depart Chi-Chi I would feel confidant about launching strikes on the shipping there. Think I could overwhelm base air defenses alone but not with the fleet carriers CAP present.

I am fairly sure soon as one group departs Tim will have a replacement ready to take over. No easy solution, but gotta strike back somewhere soon.

November in northern zone. 3x the losses and disruption. Sure picked the wrong time to land at Okha. Maybe another HQ will help, maybe not much. Intercepting a few transports there with carrier CAP, not much of an improvement but some.

Pulling back from borders in Russia before units get bypassed.

Hope Tim gets a more dedicated opponent next time. It was fun but not really keeping up with his level of play anymore. Might of helped to play the AI this late into the game.

The other Div has morale of 79 also. These guys will be coming out of their holes to fight for years after the war. Think I remember William Manchester writing in "Goodbye Darkness" his Pacific memoir that when visiting some of the islands in the 70's the Japanese shore guns still in place seemed to have been recently maintained and cleaned. Eerie!

Long time no post. Only thing I can say for now is Singapore has reached 10K supply and all transports(from Batavia and Palembang) moved to Clark and Manila. Going to try and pick up Ind Bde's from Jolo and Tarakan to defend Manila.

Another Div halfway to Ohka along with a 3 BB bombardment TF. Got outta Tokyo before US carriers were too close.

Put all level bombers at Tokyo on port attack target Chi-Chi Jima. Airfield is only size 1 and carriers should be heading to cover TF unloading couple hexes west which just got hit big time (for me anyway). Looks like his AO or tankers were parked there.

Finding I might be better off with no escorts for my bombers. That way they stay away from the CVTF and hit something they have a chance to get through to.

Russians about to take Mutankiang/whatever. Air units abandoned. Close to getting some 1/2 strength Div in Kwangtung.

Posted in my game a thank you and will repeat here. What a great game with a great opponent. Your post about CHina being a quagmire is almost identical to one in my AAR. Had no idea you were able to sneak that much oil out of northern Borneo after I occupied the area.

Trip on over to my AAR Larry, you will have some good laughs
