Hi all-
I'm curious for allied players what you do with your singapore and burma fast reinforcement task forces early in the game, as well as the AF base forces and artillery asea in the south pacific. I diverted the reinforcement task forces to Darwin and PM, and the US units to PM as well, but I'm curious if others use a different strategy. This is against the AI in a GC. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Against the AI, I have tried them in Java & Timor, Java seems to be delaying the inevitable wheras I have held Koepang and its Jan 43.

Against a real life human type player I would move them to Australia and strengthen Darwin & NW Aust as the japanese still have the ability to invade OZ.

IMHO they are wasted at Singapore & Rangoon.

Follow this simple rule - Do not try to counterattack in the first several months with the idea that you will maintain holdings.

Against an experienced human opponent, you are likely to lose many of those assets if you aggressively contest the singapore - Soerabaya corredor. What I suggest is diversion as a primary strategy...to Australia, where they can be more useful than India, which is pretty self sufficient on its own. As a general overarching rule, early in the game, I always plan several hit and run naval and air attacks / defenses at random points where my retreat is feasible, and then I spring the trap given suitable conditions. discipline is key here. There is no point trying to committ incremental assets where the Japs can concentrate land based air or the naval combat ratio is suicidal. Inevitably, you will gain several opportunities to deliver severe damage and dull the advance.

Half to Darwin, and the other half to Moresby.

Mostly agree with JeffK except that their reinforcement against Java or Timor VERSUS THE AI may do more than just delay the inevitable. As many other versus AI players have indicated, it is possible to make Java a freaking nightmare for the IJN AI if reinforced and defended vigorously. You may be able to hold indefinitely and use Java as a fulcrum with which to stop the early IJN expansive tide. YMMV of course.

I think that maybe i copped a nasty AI script for the DEI, I am currently holding off 5+ IJA Divs at Koepang.

Luckily their supply runs are being sunk so only a trickle arrives overland.

Also I might have got out of Java a bit early in an attempt to hold onto Timor

I tried to reinforce Timor with a British infantry brigade in early-42 and held Koepang for a little while.  Then the AI sent in two divisions overland from the other Timor bases and began pounding me from airbases on Java and Celebes.  Once it was impossible to get transports with supply up there, the end was in sight and they surrendered in May 42.
