Anyone with any advice on what multiplayer strategy games are worth playing? I'm more interested those based on reality. Earth 2025 appears to be close to what I am looking for, not sure. Browser or PBM, PBEM, any of those are attractive.

Multiplayer based on "reality", hmmm that cuts down the list **** fast eh.

If you want muliti player, and absolutely require it use earth and no wierd monsters or magic spells n stuff, look no further than Civilization 2 Test of Time.
Unfortunately Civilization 3 is a great deal better game, but the designer deliberately removed any way of it being more than you vs the computer (for who knows what reason).

If you haven't played any of the Civ games,
It is you at the dawn of time, just some savages and your desire to one day rule the whole globe through trade, war, and purely scholarly pursuits.
Of course the game will have other sides that would rather you were not successful, and with actual human opponents, this is as good as REAL grand strategy gets.
No whining over specific military hardware, no complaining about historical constraints. Civ separates the generals from the cannon fodder.

Of course Civ is NOT going to look like a "wargame" per se, but then you wanted multiplayer, and other than playing a game like WWII Online, you are unlikely to find anything else worth the comment (if reality matters at all).
As cool as most wargames are, most are not multiplayer, and a lot are just you vs the game.

If you can edit the phrase "real world" though, you really need to try Heroes of Might and Magic 4, or even a slightly older game called Age of Wonders. Both have nothing to do with earth or our reality though. No Tanks, no planes, but, some of the best multiplayer strategy gaming in existence.

Thanks for the response, Les. I've actually been looking at Earth 2025. Seems to throw the whole mix of economics, military, diplomacy all in one package.

I agree with Les. But though the Civ trio(not counting test of time of call to power) is one of the best games ever, Colonization is so much cooler. Though it is has pretty or have has many options it is so cool. Maybe I like it more because I know the history of most of the civilizations in Civ and it feels weird building Moscow in a rainforest. I dont know so much about the New World. Just my thoughts.
