Strategically we are at mid Feb 42

So far String used KB a lot in the early going but its dissapeared at present.

Apart from that he hit Darwin hard taking it out but sent a large force intot he interior which I suspect slowed down his operations elsewhere.

Singapore held out to Histroy despite me stripping out the garrison

Sumatra is still mine as is Java.

He has cleaned up Bataan and Malaya but apart from that has been pretty quiet.

He assembled a lot of his big LCU's at Malaya and Darwin

Assaulting units:
148th Infantry Regiment
55th Engineer Regiment
42nd Infantry Regiment
Imperial Guards Division
112th Infantry Regiment
22nd Recon Regiment
I./143rd Infantry Battalion
113th Infantry Regiment
41st Infantry Regiment
56th Infantry Regiment
114th Infantry Regiment
33rd Division
55th Infantry Regiment
11th Infantry Regiment
56th Recon Regiment
5th Recon Regiment

Nearly 6 Divisions to take Singapore when I had evacced most of the garrison

2 more at Darwin chasing into the interior

A couple more at Luzon and a small one in Burma

Most of his LCU's are committed.

I was worried about a big deep strike but looking at that evidence I doubt he has the strength available

I have 2 reinforced Divs on Suva, 3 on Ceylon, 2.5 on NZ lots more in Australia not sure what happens now

How did you evacuate all those troops out of Malaya? I am curious.

if you did it via ship, then String must have been derelict in shutting down the sealanes. An AIR HQ at Singkawang, plus Nettys, would stop any sea evacuation, or make it real expensive.

Or did you use airtransport? If so, where did you get them?

I used a lot of PBY's from all over using B17's as air search - probably one reason for some of my losses.

I have a bout 40 PBY's and Dutch ones from day 1 evaccing Singapore for 2 months not a single LRCAP fighter.

I also had a Dutch and Aus transport Sqn plus I got about 4 xAK's worth out before the sealanes were compromised - but as part of it was not to let him see that I was evaccing I was carefull not to let him see ships being evacced as that would have let him see what was happening

There is an ultra long Range PBY you dont get many of them but they are really good

p.s. leaving behind a lot of the heavy equipment helped make him think I was standing and fighting - I think he knows now when he realised he only captured 25,000 men

Couple more turns have passed nothing of any real significance.

Port Hedland was invaded but I was expecting it and had decided not to contest it

Apart from that my forces are still in retreat across Australia and no moves by String into North Burma.

I have fallen back to my inner perimeter more or less without a fight.

Its not quite a full Sir Robin other than Malaya but its close.

Colombo, Fiji, Australia and NZ are all getting stronger by the day

These will be the hubs for my Counterattacks

If he fails to take New Cal that would be good but its not essential.

I am gathering a good force of AP ships at SF and am attempting to re concentrate my USN CV'

I had a problem where one TF ran out of fuel and needed some yard time so my Carriers have been quiet recently.

After the initial surge of reinforcements are completed and my hubs are secure I will look for ways to hit back.

I am considering options in SWPAC and SOPAC as well as Tarawa at present also considering a counter attack at Darwin while his LCU's are off deep int he desert

OK today was a weird day....

String decided to send mini KB to raid Ceylon - I have 3 Sqns of PBY's on search and they all missed em

Having said that I am not unhappy ;P

Only 2 RAF Sqns were on CAP (learned my lesson over Fiji about having everyone on training)

But those Sqns tore into the Japanese - Hurricanes at 70+ xp pilots will do that when the Zeroes are tied to the bombers...

He moved off north of Colombo heading for Bombay feels and looks like a raid little does he know that my Fleet can get out of harbour in a day so I will avoid a fight for now.

Pity the USN is in the South

Look like his two Armoured Regts are still driving for Tennat Creek - I just lost 10 Hurricanes for no loss trying to CAP the base so I guess that makes up for the 30 Zeroes mini KB lost over Colombo for 7 losses on my side.

Most of my pilots are ok I need to think whether or not to continue.

I have about 100 AV at tennat creek but only level 2 ish forts probably not enough to stop two full japanese tank Regiments.

May try

Mini KB keeps going north into the Bay of Bengal if only my Carriers were close I could destroy them all.

I suspect KB is hovering just out of sight down below Colombo waitng for the USN to come to the rescue - this has the feel of a trap about it....

He has that style. Keep moving around and keep your distance.

Mini KB is lost again I wonder if this is actually an isolate Ceylon strategy maybe more than a raid.

Anyway we shall see I am bumping up my search and sub screens in the ay of Bengal as well as trying to find mini KB.

Additional forces are moving to Perth in case this is not a raid or diversion

OK well mini KB is hheading south passing Ceylon and I am happy to let it go

No sigint he is in the middle of massed armour rolling up java.

Not a lot else to say I am now on balance in most theatres my main issue is finding a suitable fleet base in Australia - probably going to pick one of the Tasman ports as my main base to avoid my fuel levels dissapearing

I will shortly have 3 full Divisions on Ceylon

plus 2 extra mobile CD units each with 8 x 6" guns a Corps HQ and a shed load of AA guns

Colombo is neartly at lvl 4 forts and climbing as is Trincomalee

Kogala is nearly at lvl 3.

All three AF's in the south of India are being built up

Madurai, Trivandrum and Tanjore.

I have basically 2 dedicated engineer Bns, 2 large base forces and an air HQ plus an Aviation wing to equip those bases.

So even now they are groing in strength - the first just hit lvl 4 and my specialists are about to move on

To operate from those AF's
have the full
22nd BG all 4 Sqns equipped with USAAF Mediums (Marauders and Mitchells)
19th BG 4 Sqns equipped with USAAF Heavies (Liberators and B17's)

Supported by 2 USAAF Fighter Sqns and a USMC Dive Bomber Sqn.

And lets not forget the RAF

221 Group has 2 Hurricane Sqns, 2 Belenheim Sqns a flight of Recce Hurricanes and more on the way
222 Group has 3 x Hurrucane Sqns, 1 Blenheim Sqn and a Vildebeeste Sqn
223 Group has 4 Blenhem or Hudson Sqns close enough to intervene
224 Group has 2 x Hurricane and 1 x Blenheim Sqn

And 3 Lysander Sqns in reserve plus Catalinas and other specialist sqns

Your preparation may not do you any good if his troops land on your ports. And he does tend to invade Ceylon.

I would almost welcome an attack on Ceylon but I am a little lost I know he will strike somewhere but I have no idea where.

I guess I need to wait and see.

All is quiet at present.

Forces are starting to coalese into their defensive locations another Div is eno route for the SOPAC so we will see what is next.

I would like to be able to reinforce New Cal tot he extent that I am confident of holding it I am not there yet but its getting closer

Not a lot to say String finally revealed his hand and invaded Ceylon

Over the last few weeks my losses have been painfull I really hate the Jap amphib bonus where he landed 5 ish Divs in a day at Koggala a lvl 1 port

Anyway spearheads are driving on Colombo

I estimate 5 or 6 Divs against my 3 behind lvl 4 forts.

Not sure how it will go as this time I have good troops there.

We shall see

When is the amphib bonus expiring? Wasn´t it four months? This would have meant 7 March.

No surprise. He likes to hit Ceylon. Supply will decide.

I have given up on waiting for anything that gets close to a combined strike, heck I´m waiting for combined strikes for over four months in my PBEM. Kereguelen took a look at my game and gave me a hint what "could" or what "is" the reason for this and while it would make sense, it would make the game, very very hard to play IMO, if not impossible with the given pps. He said he would bring it up on the dev forum but I´ve got no info yet if it really is what you need to get combined strikes. The funny thing is that I had NEVER a single combined strike yet, not out of India, not out of Australia. For me it isn´t working correctly, even if there would be a die roll, I guess I can´t miss it 100% of the time in 4 months game time, especially when I meet all other conditions but this single one. It wasn´t the norm in real life to have attacks of 40-50 ac being split up into four or five strikes. Unfortunately I´ve been seeing split up strikes all the time and all the time in this case is none of my usual exaggerations. It´s fine when things can go wrong, but shouldn´t there only be the possibility to see things go wrong instead of having them going wrong all the time? Piece meal strikes can easily double or tripple your losses while the enemy just laughs his a$$ off.

Those couple of sweeps that went in seem to have all been bounced, means all your fighters were just sitting ducks. If you want to have a slight chance, put them as high as you can and hope to be higher than your opponent. This will lead to a "who gets higher" game though but that´s how it works. Either you do it, or you will get bounced until 1946 when you fly at 15-20k ft and your opponent above. The bounce easily can convert a 1:3 into a 1:1 or 2:1 in my experience. Your biggest problem here though, the Oscar can go higher than any of your fighters.

Am suffering from the same problem with units not taking replacements due to this "upgrade" bug and as my opponent seems to take on India too (5,5 divs landed at Cox Bazar) I´ve got to think about halting it too until the patch is out. There are a whole lot of PBEMs infected and it IS a show stopper.

Not really a lot to say I suspect String has me defeated at Colombo but this time I am not running.

Lvl 4 forts 120k supplies and 1200 AV with loads of AA guns I need to stand and fight.

All my units are prepped for Ceylon and more are en route if they can get through his blockade.

I have lost shed loads of fighters and bombers my aircraft just wont co ordinate despite air HQ and good pilots.

Air superiority is lost but I need to keep fighting - I shoulda studied Nemo's tactics a little more and not committed to a battle I cannot win

I have a few more suprises en route including anopther 100+ P39D's
