I just noticed that I've been a member of this forum for almost 5 years.

I've seen some pretty heated discussions here and I've seen Erik irritated more than once!

But all in all, you guys are really good bunch of people. I learned a LOT from you good people about the Pacific War. There are times where I'm afraid to contribute for fear of looking like a moron.(My wife would say that doesn't take much! )

I hope to be here for another 5 years. *raises toast*

Soon 8 years here. I started to read this site more or less when it was created and registered soon after. Originally I came here to get the new version of steel panthers for pbem. Met some nice people here. One from germany even helped me to buy SP mega campaign back when I was student and didnt have credit card.

I've been browsing on and off this forum since Steel Panthers was going Gold.  Now that I think about it, that's about a decade's worth.

Unfortunately, I really don't like paying attention to how fast time flies, it just gets me depressed.

Congrats my friend.

Personally it doesn't give me much joy though, the only thing I can think of is: where the heck did those years go?
I wish I was a newbie... and 10 years younger LOL

Ah, I see I'm not alone in that.

Emo is two things. A form of music that is similiar to alternative,..but with a heavy slant to self pity, and also a 'lifestyle' or 'clique' depending on how you perceive these type things. It is similiar to the 'Goth' types, as far as appearance,....dark hair,....very pale skin (usually make up is used to achieve this), dark makeup around the eyes to give a sunken in look, studded bracelets, collars, etc..........but with a HEAVY slant towards self pity. The self pity aspect is where the 'Emo' tag comes from. They are 'emotional' or feel sorry for themsleves and how misunderstood they are.

Be careful though,......just becasue a kid likes to wear dark clothes, and studded bracelets, collars etc,...doesnt make them Emo......in fact when I was a youth the exact same look would have been called 'metal'.

Wow, Its been almost 5 years for me too. I came here interested in Gary Grigsby's World at War, and after seeing the dedication to their games and customers how could I not stick around.

That reminds me, I don't understand why W@W is in the discontinued list now.  The game is no longer sold and the threads have been... burried down in that discontinued area.  So do I understand right, in that the game is officially dead?  I feel like that was a little too soon.

I wonder what all those Axis & Allies type kiddies are doing now.

Probably because it's successor is out...why have W@W when you can have W@W:AWD?

oops, nearly 10 years that I registered

But as you can see I am more  a player than a poster.

The days when WIR 2.0, PACWAR 2.0 or SP2WW2 were published at  "thegamers.net" during the late 90´s seem to be just like yesterday.

Does anybody here remember the old pacwar-list?

Lord, I´m getting old

It does make me wonder, sometimes, how long people have been here with so few posts. There's nothing wrong with it, but I would've thought in 10 years there would have been one or two topics on the General Discussion forum that might have perked your interest enough to join in on....or even with games you've bought...tech questions? Or requests? Maybe even asking about up and coming games?

So what makes someone who has registered for 10 years, or even less, refrain from posting? Absolutely nothing at all grabs your fancy in terms of debate? No questions about up coming games or games you have?

I lurked around here for a long time researching and deciding whether to buy TOAW 3 and Harpoon ANW or not.  Never did purchase ANW but discovered Forge of Freedom and joined the Forum when I bought that title.

As for low post counts, sometimes it is better to read than to write...  To the OP, Happy Anniversary.

In my case, pure laziness.

Actually, there was that time when we lost all the messages on the forum and had to re-start it over, IIRC.

I have done most of my posts in the long lost Art of War forum. I do miss that part of the forum. How many years has that been gone?

Wow, 5 years for me, too. Doesn't time fly?

Let me see if I can find something controversial to post about. Other than Digital River's exchange rates...

I just prefer lurking. I use to post a lot more when GENIE was around, and I played Air Warrior. I sure do miss GENIE and the Aladdin interface.

But back in the day(80's) I bet most of our parents looked at us and our bretheren and said the same thing..... Most of us became "normal"...... We have become our parents...hehehe
