I think things may be backwards in Ground combat...

I was USN attacking Lunga and the results kind of baffled me

I lost only 160 troops while the defenders lost over 3000

granted I had over 15,000 troops to their 5,000 but doesn't that seem odd?

then later in the game IJN wanted Lunga back so they sent somewhere in the are of like 30,000 troops to my 15,000 and I had a tank batallion in there too, but the crazy thing is that they only lost 200 or so troops to my 4000!!!!

I always thought the defenders had less losses or would at least inflict a little more damage then that...I dunno maybe thats how its sapposed to be

I know my #'s aren't precise, maybe tomorrow if I have some ground combat I'll get more accurate accounts of this

Most of those 4000 were probably support troops and your not front line troops... support troops are very easy to kill.

But doesn't that seem a little odd that I only killed a couple hundred of his troops and not a little more, its just kind of hard to picture in my head the defender loosing 30 times more then the attacker...but I can see the support troops being a little easier to kill...

Maniac : if you only had a tank battalion and a bunch of support troops, its not hard to imagine at all. Its not "killed" per se, it could be captured, deserted, missing, lost. Aircraft mechanics and finance clerks can't defend a base.

This is something that happens when a base changes hands. At present, losing a base results in the loss of all support units, whether they were technically killed in combat, captured, dispersed, etc. They are considered combat ineffective and essentially need to be rebuilt in a rear area (they should arrive later as reinforcements).

Therefore, if you take a base they are removed and their total is added to the enemy casualties. This can definitely cause some confusion and I'd love to see it separated out at a minimum. In the meantime, realize what these losses really represent and it will seem less bizarre. :)

Regards,

- Erik
