I've had my 24" widescreen for almost two years now. I would never even consider buying anything smaller again.

It's an LG W2453. It was reasonably priced, and is a huge increase in visual performance.

I've tried it with Modern Warfare 2 at 19x10 resolution and have no detectable drop in frame rate from the older screen. No "ghosting" either.

I'm satisfied.

I think the LG W2453 has the "TN" type of matrix / panel which is not very good at all...

Here is what matrix / panel means:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD#Twisted_nematic_.28TN.29

I strongly encourage fellow thredsters to check this before buying LCD montitor!

Thus "TN" is worst, then comes much better "IPS" and the best are "S-PVA" matrix / panel types...

If you are satisfied that is the most important thing!

I was aware of that, Leo. I would never buy a TV with a TN matrix, but a computer monitor is not going to be viewed from many other angles than straight-on.

It's big, it updates fast enough to run FPS and other similar games, and it didn't break my bank balance. Three pluses to one very small minus, as far as I'm concerned.

OK Kristian!

BTW, the most annoying thing to me with all LCDs is uneven screen lighting (i.e. if you, for example, put just white picture on full screen you will notice that all areas of screen are not of same light intensity - screen corners suffer from this the most)... shame that you rally really have to play high amount of money to get excellent LCD screen (for computer screens the "Eizo" is one of such companies)...

Yep... very true... 99% of computer users will never notice that on their own at all... nor they want to know...

True. Using terms as "over-nerfed" and combining that with some unsubstantiated rumours, sort of sets the tone for the whole thread. :-/

Interesting little side story on monitors... My department has to be REALLY specific in the sort of monitors we buy for cardiac ultrasounds and other examinations. Has to be good quality monitors to see everything correctly. For the same reason, the rooms where the ultrasounds are done have old-fashioned black-out curtains on the windows. Can't have the sun reflecting off the screen.

Another little story from the hospital world: I read the news about Bill Clinton's recent heart procedure and automatically switched all the general words and phrases describing it for the correct medical terms in my head. Guess I'm a seasoned veteran now...
