So how do you deal with Truk? It is the end game. I have Rabaul, only about six weeks left. Yamato, Musashi and about 3 other BB are in Truk in port. I have been bombing the port from 20,000 feet for some time with B-24's from Rabaul, but the 500 pounders don't have much effect (and they shouldn't).

I am 90 miles off Truk with a very mean carrier task force, a BB bombardment force, and a BB surface warfare force. Truk is defended by a considerable quantity of super-weapons, which I am attacking with all TBF aircraft, to no effect (of course). Bombardment does nothing but shoot up the runway. If you attack the port with Dauntless bombers, well, you don't have Dauntless bombers anymore! They all get shot down or damaged. Virtually every one. And hit nothing. Surely something is really screwed up here.

Any suggestions

Paul
