Hello.

Do you know if there's a way to represent abandonned vehicles on a map? I don't mean "destroyed" vehicles but intact ones, without fire and smokes, and a bailed out crew (optional though).

Yes, this can be done.
Play turn 1, bail out the crews and save. Then take the scenario back to the editor and deploy as desired.

See "Fangless Tigers" which was posted on this forum about 3 weeks ago for one example.

Have fun.

Question on a similar idea, different topic,

I know a crew can crawl back to it's tank/gun if it's morale goes back up and it hangs around the gun for a while.

So can a crew from, oh say USSR get in a Tiger if it's been abandoned? Just wandering idly.

Geeze...don't have to get huffy about it.

To me it wouldn't be that bad of an idea to allow say, a certain type of unit, when they encounter a gun or vehicle left behind to hop in and start crewing the gun/vehicle.

I mean, it does happen in wars, and sometimes it could turn the tide of battle in that teams favor.

Probably can't though because of the game engine, right?

Yes, a game limitation. You can set up a small test scenario and see what happens if you try this.

Great! I thank you for this tip. It was so simple and obvious that I didn't even think of it! :)

I grabbed your scen and you were right, it works perfectly! Moreover, your battle is really inventive and well crafted, I loved it and had a lot of fun playing it. Well done! I see you've made many good and really uncommon scens on different topics. Keep doing it, it's refreshing.

Oh, another related question. I know I could test it but... ;) What about the game counting a kill for the player units standing in the hex of an abandonned vehicle? It's very important in a campaign game if I just want to simulate a retreating army abandonned equipment that hasn't been ruined. If the kills are counted I must inform the player not to cheat with that "feature" but it would be much more elegant to find a way to avoid this WaW rule.
Best regards.

To my knowledge, you can't shoot at a tank if it's been abandoned...I'm not sure I follow you though. Do you mean when a unit walks over to an abandoned vehicle they get a kill? I was under the impression that if you made a crew abandon a vehicle you got a kill, then you could get another one if you killed the crew off.

I'm not sure about that, but your question's kinda weird to me anyways, does it help at all?

If the unit is abandoned as part of the scenario setup and design you get no kill for that unit in the scoring it would of had to be crewed from the beginning to get credit as a kill. The game won't reconize it as a unit unless it's manned it regards it as part of the map creation in the same way it does buildings and such. If it was crewed from the start and the crew bail you get credit for a kill even if the crew manages to survive. In retrospec you can get credit for nunerous kills of the same unit depending on how many times a crew bails and recrews and or if the crew and or unit is destroyed.

Interesting gmenfan, That's what I thought about it too, seems pretty strange that you can do that, maybe it's just a bug in the way SP works.

"Do you mean when a unit walks over to an abandoned vehicle they get a kill?"
Yes... and no :) If you let one of your units (wich has no suppression) in the same hex during one turn (sometimes more, depending on the moral and experience), the abandonned vehicle is considered destroyed and you get the experience points BUT your unit doesn't get a credit in killing terms (doesn't get one more little tank icon in its unit sheet).
"...but your question's kinda weird to me anyways...
Well, I suppose it's my english that seems weird to you, isn't it? :D

Well well well! I hadn't notice that point yet! Seems like a bug, isn't it?! I thought (as the game manual stated) that the unit was considered destroyed (in fact it is not because the sprite is still the same but should be different, with flames and smoke) and impossible to be recrewed! It's funny, I play SP series since 1994 and still discover new features and tricks :)
Regards.
