It seems that I have captured Z-town.  That's the town near D-town that starts with a Z and can't be pronounced and it's really long and it's an objective.  The AAR for turn 28 is found here:

Turn 28

24. September - 27. September 1941
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
South. I had to retreat 6. Army all way to Melitopol, behind Malochnaya-river. Also, armies at Crimean gaps (51. A. & Coastal A.) need reinforcements immidiately. Gaps are way too weak!

Centre isn't changed much between turns 25-28. There was small breakthrough south of Smolensk (by 20. PzDiv and SS Das Reich), but i plugged it somehow. Smolensk last days are ahead, city won't hold long.

Also, Leningrad doesn't look good. There's now 10 armies, but i feel like i need even more, if i want keep city at least until end of 1941.

okie dokie you guys.  I finished Axis turn 29.  It seems that I blew a hole in Dave's lines near D-town and maybe I can do some cross-field running and get behind some of his troops because of it.  The AAR is found here:

Hey you guys....I've grouped the first 20 AARs into a document that can give you instant access to any one of the first twenty turn AARs.  You no longer have to search through page after page of forum posts to find the link and download each one separately.  This 1 through 20 AAR group document is about 185 Meg bytes big and can be downloaded from here:

So um......I finished Axis turn 30....there was an early turn ending so I got only one combat round but I'm surrounding several Soviet stacks and expanding bridgeheads etc.
You can find turn 30's AAR here:

I finished the Axis turn 31 and lemme tell you about what happened:  I exploited a hole I made in Dave's line last turn and got some of my units behind his and it looks good for the Axis side so far.  You can download the AAR from here:

Turn 31

5. October - 7. October 1941
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allright. I haven't updated my (Soviet) side of AAR in couple turns. So here it is.
So panzer-armee made thru' my old line behind Dnepr couple turns ago, so i have begin to setup some kind of line in front of Kharkov.

Overall situation is very bad now in south... I'm planning large withdrawal-operation, its due to start when mud-season begins...

In centre, i retreated from bulge. Now the line is more straight, which is easier to defend.

Can you play the AI in this sen?

I've tried it but found it lacking. There IS a FITE with an AI though and it's called Directive 21 which is leaving the playtest mode really soon now. I'm one of the playtesters and I like it a lot. It's got an AI and plays really well. You might want to check out the D21 playtesters thread and there are several AAR's about it already. Here's the links to the first three AAR's that I found:
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2292828
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2362377
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1936198

You can download the scenario from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?12zjyyjhnnk

How good is the overall AI in the game?

I did a scenario dump using the editor and found out that there aren't any objective tracks for the AI besides the obvious BERLIN and MOSCOW ( at least I think there's a MOSCOW objective ) for the AI to follow and so the AI doesn't really play all that well in FITE. I've set up the game and let it play itself until turn 40 or so and the map was a mess with units intermixed and obvious wrong strategy usage, etc. so I wouldn't even try it myself.

Got to get around to buying this one.

I've been playing this game (TOAW) since the early 1980's and in my humble opinion it's the BEST wargame on the market. I get burned out on it after playing FITE for four months straight churning out about 1 turn per day and take a month off. But I keep coming back. FITE is my favorite scenario with August Fog as a close second.

Great AAR.

Thanks very much. I bought a book on html and taught myself how to use it and thought to myself: "self, why not produce your AAR as an html document. That way you can publish pictures as big as you want to and as many as you want." It was a win/win situation I thought. I've been getting rave reviews about them and I hope it catches on in the forum since it's a much better way to do it...IMHO.

Turn 32

*Mud-Season Begins*

8. October - 11. October 1941
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allright. Mud-season started, means that i began my big withdrawal operation called "Pollutes". I pull Southwest front back about 250km avoiding encircling... Orel front moved backwards little bit too.

Some men from 324. Rifle division, 16. Army. Retreating through Kiev, leaving city for germans. City will be liberated back someday, Stalin thinks

These mud turns are pretty fast, so i think we can do all of these in one day(?)

Hey you guys.......I've put together an enumeration of all the important active Axis Panzer, Infantry, engineers, and security forces so that I'd know how many of them there were. I've built it into an html document that you can load into your browser.

Just download the attached document and rename the file by clipping off the ".txt" from the end of the filename and unzip it. There's a separate html file for each of the separate types and a main one that will open all of them at once. It took about 30 minutes to put this together so it was not a big problem at all. Just keeping you guys in the loop.

EDIT: OR just click on the links below to see the numbers:

Infantry units: http://www.mediafire.com/?oyzymiymm0m
Arty units: http://www.mediafire.com/?zqyznmyeyqy
security units: http://www.mediafire.com/?aezzqvmomgm

Nice one Larry. Im thinking about to make something like that also for Soviets. but only armies & corps, cause' Soviets have so damn many units (divs, brigades, regiments, battalions etc.), and im getting new ones every turn... So it would be dead man's work.

Well I think so that you are right Dave 'couse RKKA have something like 800 units now. I have read your aar since it beginnings and keep it going. Game going intresting point... I heard that you do all mud turns today (in eastern Europe time offcourse) it's quite good achievement. Soon we see what happening when OKH started ''Schlacht um Moskau''... But good for Daves point of view Moskow is still pretty far. I'm more interested situation of Leningard. German first units are only 50 km away it's not good situation for Dave.

In fact, those lists are pretty "handicap" because i've lost almost all Tank & mech & mot. divisions, lots of cavalry... etc.
And have got hundreds of new Rifle divs... tank brigades, cavalry divs, rifle brigades etc.

So those lists actually doesn't tell anything

EDIT: AND, i command my armies & corps as formations, no divisions like germans do. So one division is same at soviets like one regiment at germans.

I looks like the enumeration of the Axis units is pretty popular so I'm guessing I need to enumerate some more of the different types. Like MP units, fighters, and bombers. Anybody have another type you need enumerated? I can do it you know. Maybe the Soviet forts?
