Hello

In the file Tiles_misc.bmp we have six clouds icons. Whats the difference between them? I wish to mod them to something better looking, but I don't know what's their meaning. There are two types (three clouds in each) of clouds (difference?), and in them there are two clouds raining (difference?) and one wothout rain (ok, this means "cloudy weather", but why there are two different clouds for "cloudy weather"?)

I used to know something about this but my mind went blank when you asked the question. I honestly have no idea why they are different. Maybe you could change them in distinctive ways and see where they appear in the game graphics.

Huzar: Well, I can't tell you if their specific to a weather condition, but as far as I know anything you do with this tile will make no difference except on your own computer (unless you get your friends to accept the modded tile as well).

This tile is one of the tiles that many people change out (as I have) in order to get a different 'airstrip' icon. As part of the 'basic graphics' for the engine, it's just one of the 'change this to your own feelings' tiles, and should probably have no effect on the game-engine itself.

Go ahead and Rock On, your tho only one that will see anything happening!

Most of the graphics have multiple versions that will all be on the screen at once, this makes the map look more organic. I assume that's what's happening here.

Thanks, I understand.

BTW, are you - forum and toaw veterans - using the weather to anything in game? Is it really helpful to anything? I'm asking as a novice who is still learning the game.

I have no idea whether or not weather affects the results of combat.  Maybe somebody should do a test to determine if it does or not.  I have noticed a difference in the percent of success in aircraft bombing bridges, even bridges close together.  I've always attributed the difference to the weather but I have no proof that that is why there's a difference.  I'd like to hear from somebody who really knows the answer to this question.  Failing that I guess I'll have to do a test to see what gives.....  How does somebody control the weather when testing?  LOL.

Rain (maybe heavy clouds as well) is good for hiding ships against ship-killers like Stukas. Bad weather may reduce effective air support in land battles as well.
