Pffftt...world, schmurld. TNG is about the Galaxy and beyond. That approach to foreign policy seems to suit the Klingons and Romulans quite well.

Speak softly but carry a big stick?

I don't recall the Klingons ever speaking softly about anything. Kablah!

No. Most of the TNG humans seem to prefer 'going out' by means of self destruct devices, catastrophic environmental failures on their ships, or the recipient of a uneven combat by the Klingons, Romulans, Borg or others. The panty-waisted Star Fleet has totally lost their cajones in the 24th century. Must have been too much interstellar estrogen between the 22nd and 24 centuries.

Actually, when they do put combat records or historical references into canon, it usually morrors the American mindset very closely, ie be peaceful, be attacked, get slightly upset, grind the enemy to dust. But if you have an aversion to that, theres always the Maquis.

As a ST nerd and purist I would've preferred if you spelled it right. K'Plah!

BTW, If you didn't know, that means "success". Edited; Come to think of it - that gives your spelling attempt a certain irony ...

Well, I just received the 'official" phone call. I will be in Omaha Nebraska on 1 May , 2010.

Safe travels, Steve. Is this good news for you and your family?

Thanks CB. No not really. My wife was in hopes of retirement and being able to work in this area. But it is better than some places that were open. But it's definately not overseas, where we've been asking for for over 20 years.

Hey, maybe you'll totally lobe Nebraska and decide to retire there. How many times have you known Warren Buffet to be wrong?

Lobe? And are we talking "know" in the biblical sense?

OK , Mars. But the "cannon " is dead. Enterprise damaged it, and the new "Star Trek" killed it!

Maybe, but since no one watched Enterprise, it doesnt count.

Right...everyone just watched T'Pol......

Say's who? And I worry about anyone who thinks that foreign policy (or any other kind for that matter) should fit on a bumper sticker. If that were the case , we'd be divided into two camps, 1) "Yea-ha!" and 2) "I surrender!"

I'd really like there are "grown-ups" out there that don't belive in "governannce by sound-bite"!

We are legion! There is a reason that among "trekkies" Klingon is more popular than Vulcan. Blowing stuff up is fun! BTW , I notice that you play WITP , "peace in the Pacific". So there!
