Apparently, when pilots get WIA they lose experience. One of my aces was WIA in the recent carrier battle and went from 89 to 81 experience.

Japanese pilots do, just look at Sakai Saburo for an extreme example.

Yes.
When a pilot is WIA, he will be listed on the Group Reserve screen with the month he is due back to action.

I am not sure that "all" WIA pilots return though. It seems that most do. Anyone know?

Most of mine eventually have. You can also asign WIA pilots to the training command, or at least you could before the latest patch, haven't tried it since.

They return but depends on what their delay is.

In some cases, it might put them outside the game time parameters. [Not sure what they are at the moment as trying to ignore my PC.]

He gets a 'time out' based on his level of wounds.
