My kids showed me a comerical with gi joe & using a Me HT w/75mm at gun and a M8 AC w/37mm. there is also two jeep's one is a wwII type and a UN type.
Would you believe my kids wont them all.

Why is it all the good toys come out now and not when we where kids?

I was playing with the original gi-joes back in the late 60's and recall having a 4 wheel armored car for him then, though it had an open top and no armnament.

I remember playing with miniature tanks and armored cars back in the late 50's. They were made in UK.Forget the name of them but they were metal and the tanks actually had treads. Tanks were about 5 inches long. Maybe some of our UK members (the older ones) can remember them.

I don't know about the US but in the UK when I was growing up in the 70's we had the excellent Action Man. The kit we used to get with this toy was excellent from Coldstream Guardsmen in full uniform including SLR and sentry box to British infantryman or Royal Marine commando. The choice was superb and attention to detail was excellent. You could also buy German infantry as well.
Willis jeeps, 4-Ton replica trucks, armoured cars...Loads of good stuff.
Ahh takes me back. Shame the Action Man nowadays is more trendy with fancy water jets and ray guns and crap like that. That is progress for you.

During the 70s I was playing with the Airfix 1/72 soldiers. My first steps into model making was made to build some 1/72 tanks, jeeps (from Airfix too...) to play with my soldiers. With a friend, we imagined some simple rules for move and "fire". It was the period my father made some big works at home, so quasi permanently there was sand which was ideal for us to play...
I remember my father was not really happy when he made a wall in the garden, to find some forgotten soldiers between the bricks
