Pretty poor again. but Royal Sovereign, Ramillies and Revenge. It should be possible to make better version of Ramillies and Sovereign using these as a guide.

The KGV class crests were from a site on Russian Convoys.

Here's what I've got so far. It's a long way from being comprehensive, mostly Indian and Brit LCU/squadrons and a few ships and USAAF units. It's not easy to find unit emblems for the Commonwealth LCUs once you get beyond divisional level

Still got a few minor things to work out, some of the RAF crests aren't quite right for example.

Awesome, Dixie!!!!!

OK, should be every RAF Squadron (excluding Tiger Force Canadians and Australians) with the proper crowns on top Several squadrons never received an official crest, so they've got a 'blank' RAF crest instead. I've got a stack of FAA badges to work on as well and I'm going to try and find enough info to bodge together badges for 2 Sqn IAF and later.

EDIT: I've also started on the Aussie divisional emblems for the AIF and Militia formations.

So it's quick and dirty, but it does have every British BB and CV except for Formidable. Everyone's favourite CVE Hermes is thrown in at no extra cost.

If anyone is doing the RAN crests then the Aussie navy's website has modern crests for pretty much all their ships, with a bit of work they can be modded back to WW2 versions.

Anyone know how the RAN ship badges were supposed to look during WW2 ? The same as the RN badges or were there differences ? I've come across a couple that are the same as the RN, but without the crown or ship's name on them. Others are like the RN, but with a boomerang and ship's motto added (I guess this is the modern version and a quick look at wikipedia seems to confirm that)

The crest designs are available on the RAN website. During the AE period they followed RN practices, prior to 1940 the ships would have haxagonal, shield or diamond shaped designs depending on the class of ship. Post 1940 they were round.

HMAS Shropshire, Vendetta, Arunta, Vampire, Quickmatch.

EDIT: These were all either Haxagonal or shield based. Not sure on the rest of the RAN without doing more research into it.

All the RAN Cruisers + the "N", "V" and "Q" class destroyers + HMAS Stuart

All designs come from the RAN website, but as most of these are the modern designs some might not be correct for the WWII ships.

Especially the HMAS Voyager is suspect, as Dixie posted it's badge from when she was still HMS Voyager, which has an entirely different design. It is of course possible that her badge was changed when she was transferred, but this wasn't the case for ships like the Vendetta and Vampire. If you'd like to keep using the other version, just remove SHP_3689 from the file.

Another one that I'm not sure about is the HMAS Adelaide. The RAN site has different badges on the pages for the different namesakes. I've used the design from the page on the WWII Adelaide, but this wasn't a proper badge, as it was missing the crown and name.

Anyone who knows more about which version is the correct one to use for these ships, please tell so I can correct any mistakes.

The Tribal class was not included as the chances of mistake are even higher here. The HMAS Arunta design on the RAN site differs strongly from the one posted by Dixie, which is certainly from WWII. The HMAS Warramunga badge on the RAN site looks similarly modernized. The HMAS Bataan badge found on the RAN site differs significantly from normal RAN badges, but I wonder what it could be apart from the correct badge for the WWII version, as there was only ever one HMAS Bataan.

Some of the RAN ones are a 'best guess' as info is pretty sketchy. Most ships kept their crests if transferred between the RN and RAN and most ships kept the same badge through numerous incarnations.

You've got the right crest for Voyager (http://www.freewebs.com/voyager-reunions/).

From an Australian Navy paper dated 1958 on Adelaide's badge...

Link to a,pdf doc, describes Warramunga's first (unofficial) badge as being similar to the current design.

OT, but this is what I found for an explaination about the RN badges and their shapes:

The capital ships used a circle, representing the ring around Britiain defending our shores.
The destroyers used a shield, as they were defending (shielding) the capital ships.
Cruisers used a pentagon, representing the 5 oceans that they sailed in.
Other ships used a diamond, as in heraldry a diamond represents a maiden.  The support ships were considered to e maids of all work (not capital ships, cruisers or destroyers).

As before, some early USMC SSI:

Click on the little 200 x 200 images to see a big blown up one. I'm not exactly happy about 2nd MarDiv's drawing, but i didn't want to spend *too* much time cleaning up the original.

Thanks for the work on the art Dixie, they look fantastic!

On another note I did a Marine Raider patch and found despite my limited photoshop skills I was able to manage quite easily. I wouldn't be opposed to being on a team doing U.S. forces if someone wants to spearhead something for the community.

I think I know where you've found these, I've used part of them for personal use already and was waiting for permission to repost them here as well. Of course just using your modifications when you post them is a lot easier, thanks for the work.

I think I know where you've been hanging out as well The CVE badges are made from the blank frames there with the ship's crests coming from elsewhere and modified to fit into the frames. I've got most of the rest of the RN stuff done but as they're used pretty much straight from the source I'd rather wait for permission to use them.

Thanks to fleetchief at http://www.worldnavalships.com/forums/ I can make the rest of the ships' badges available to the forums. He's done a load of top class badges, far better than anything I could manage Smeulders also has an excellent set of badges which he's been working on including the Australian ships so I've left the Aussie cruisers out of mine.
