Construction Yard Error - 3/26/2010 4:32:07 AM

When I click on "Construction Yards" in my Ships and Bases screen, it throws an error about the object type needing to be a double. This happens as soon as I select "Construction Yards" from the dropdown box. I can click on continue after the error appears, but when I click on different construction yards they do not become highlighted. The issue disappears when I select something else from the dropdown box.

Screenshot attached.

Full text of details in error message:

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Thanks, I'm unable to duplicate this at all here using your steps. I open the Ships and Bases screen, select Construction Yards and all works well. Tried a few other methods to get to the same place without a problem.

We may need a save to duplicate this one - if you start a new game and do this, does it behave the same way for you or is this only if you load a particular save?

Okay, I know how to reproduce it (after nearly an hour of testing ;-P )

I think I accidentally did the following:

Opened ship menu in a current game. Press esc and loaded a different game, WITH the menu still open. New game loads with old game's ship menu still up. New game's ship menu is corrupt.

Maybe all menus should be closed when escape is pressed to prevent data from being "stuck" when a new game is loaded.

Hope it helps.

EDIT: I tried again and when I closed the old game's ship menu, I didn't crash with the new game's ship menu. It's kind of random. Sorry, I wish I could help more. I'd be happy to send the savegame in if you need me to.

Hm, that didn't do it for me either. What operating system are you running on, could post a DxDiag please? Maybe those are the right steps, but only on a particular OS.

I get the same error message as Marcuso.

It happens for me in either of the following ways: 1) I click the "Open Construction Yard screen" button at the bottom of the main screen. 2) I go into the "Open Ships and Bases screen", and then select "Construction Yards" from the drop down menu at the top of that window.

I'm not sure what triggers the error message first appearing - in one game it appeared almost immediately after I started the game. In another, I played for about 2 hours before it started appearing.

Once it starts appearing in a game, it happens every single time I do either #1 or #2. I have a save game I can send where it does this for me every time.

I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit if that matters. And I have the 1.01 update.

The save game looks to be about 25MB which seems too big to upload through the forum. How should I get it to you?

Just a note to all: I've been able to reproduce this bug and have fixed it in the next patch. No need for any further savegames on this issue.

Thanks for finding this! Elliot
