I don't have the money for this game. I really don't. Didn't expect it to cost quite this much.

But I bought it anyway; 10 minutes left on the download. I hope you guys (Matrix Games staff and Distant World developer(s)) know that I'm giving up a AAA title to get this instead! Money is very, very tight for me right now.

The feedback on this forum and the videos I've seen have finally pushed me to open my wallet. Once I have a moment to learn it and play it, I'll try to provide some kind of AAR for anyone else on the fence like I was all day yesterday. I'm expecting great things.

(Note: the fact that this is basically DRM-free is a big selling point for me. Thank you for that.)

yeah it is a great game.

I enjoy watching the space opera unfold over time and also the dogged attacks against the pirates whenever they are found (they do not stand a chance)

Still have not started a war yet though, that is one of the next challenges I am going to setup, a big galactic cesspool of despots and military lunatics and see what happens.

Last game I setup was the space hippy chicks vs republic and monarchist humans.

I was playing the space hippy chick and everyone loved me but hated each other.

Then it crashed and I did not have a save game :(

Will try again

I would guess that AAA is a reference to a high-dollar production from one of the big game companies.

Big budget, mainstream publisher title. Think of things like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 etc.

Unfortunately nowadays, AAA title usually = short game with tons of bugs because of the rate the devs churn out crap titles. That's why I'm glad for DW, because Elliot and co have spent time developing it, and nurturing it into an awesomesauce game.

yeah some of the new ps3 games that are out/coming out are very short

from what I hear gods of war 3 is only 8 hours long

I want a game to at least last 20 hours.
