I was at war with a race for a little while. Finally built up fleets big enough to start to challenge his planets. Before I was only hitting his supply and fuel bases. Took 1 planet from him in his main system. Then my fleet manager suggesting attacking a large planet in his system. Had 3 orbital defense stations and large Base build ships. I think it was his capital but not sure.. If not it was a core system.

Well anyway at first only 1 of my capital ships arrived with 2 frigates. The frigates soon retreated but the capital stayed and held its own against the defenses. LOL. Anyway about 2 mins later the rest of the fleet showed up and well.... They made quikc work of the large Ship building base and 2 orbital defense grids and some other ships in orbit. All of a sudden my ships stoped attacking. I was like wtf? Then I got a message from this race that my ships were violating its space! WTF? I was no longer at war with them.. And relations were at annoyed.

How the hell did this war just magically end when I had them! They were about to lose a major core system!! I did not want peace, or ask for it.. Nor do I have a message that popped up asking for it! nothing it just ended like that. Pffft.

Did you have diplomacy automated? In that case, your advisors may have accepted an offer while you were busy fighting the war. If not, then it may be a bug and we'd love to see a save file.

Everytime my advisers asked for a treaty they would ask first. Nothing of the sort was asked of me. Unless it is different when the enemy ask you for diplomacy? But then again even then they ask me first since that is how I have it set.

How do I send you the file?

If you had it set to ask, then this sounds like a bug. Please look in the Tech Support forum, there's a pinned thread with instructions on how and where to upload a save. We'll definitely take a look and see what could have happened. For what it's worth, in testing today I fought three different wars and they all ended normally with treaties that I negotiated (except for one that is still going). So this is hopefully a rare issue if there is a bug, as I have not had that happen to me in all the post-release testing so far.

This has also happened to me. If it happens again I'll be sure to make a save and send it in.

It is related to war weariness i think, the population can force a peace according to the Galactopedia.
quote:

War continues until both sides agree to end it. Empires will typically agree to end a war when they are pressed with heavy losses. Alternatively an empire’s populace may become weary of a long war and force an end to the fighting.

Ok. Fine with me but I want to first get info about that. For example: "Your citizens forced you to make peace with XXX Empire"

What happend if another empire refuse enemy citizens plea for peace? It is possible to refuse that offer?

That opition doesn't really make sense. If i'm beating the hell out of an AI empire. Like I care if there citizens want peace. They should not have went to war in the first place.

And vice versa, if i'm getting my butt kicked who cares what my citizens think. An empire is not going to care because a bunch of citizens say please stop.

Now I can understand that if we both have been in a drawn out war for years with no victory in site for either that something like this might happen. But we need a message about it if it does.
