Mini-KB is really small. How should I set it up in the early game? What do you use your mini-KB for?

Simple questions, not-so-simple answers...

I personally don't like a mini-KB because it leaves the CVLs too vulnerable. I like to break the CVs into 2-3 equally-sized TFs (often used together).

I´d say mini-KB is as big as you want to make it. If it is for example supported by a fleet carrier borrowed from KB it has
a very tasty strenght.

To start I join up the CVL and CVE as they are close and fill them up making a nice little carrier force for the Philipines and Malasia since the Americans have nothing there in the first few weeks of the war. And yes optionally you can borrow one or two Carriers from the KB to make it stronger later in the war! There is also a CVE that starts out in Japan mainland that can also join up after a couple of weeks into the war.

Actually it is the two CVE's and CVL which makes up a nice little Carrier Force! Add to that later the slower of the 6 big CV's from the KB, I think it is Kaga the one that only does 28 knots and the other CVE that is available within the first couple weeks of the war from Japan Mainland. When it all comes together I find I have two very nicely sized Carrier forces! The one fast KB (5CV's) and the other little slower but not so mini KB.(3 CVE's, 1CVL, 1CV) LOL :-)))
