Is there any plans to bring this game to Steam/Impulse/Gamersgate?

I just prefer having the knowledge that if I don't keep the installation file I can download it in a month or two and carry on playing.

It is not being sold anywhere else but digital river. From what I read you can redownload as much as you want, as long as you have your code. They also keep your code for you if you register so if you loose it, it will be emailed to you.

I am happy with it. Yes there are things I don't like about it, but I still love the game. It is a steep learning curve, so come back here and ask questions. We will try and help. I am still learning, so much to learn.

Well as long as you play on small maps, you should be ok. What are your system specs?

Hi Nabobalis,

Distant Worlds is only available from Matrix Games, through our Online Store. You don't need to worry about re-downloading, as long as we're around you will have no problem with that. We have customers still re-downloading games they purchased from us seven years ago. Just keep your order info and you can get a re-download any time from www.findmyorder.com and our Help Desk can assist if you have any problems with that.

Regards,

- Erik

You could always burn it to a CD/DVD if you have a burner.

Erik, may I ask why on the order page you are prompted to purchase a "Extended Download Service" which claims to allow you too download beyond 30 days?

We are required to add that in by Digital River. If in the future we ever went out of business, that would cover your bases with Digital River. However, while we are around we add our own guarantee that you'll always be able to re-download your game. We were the first to actually offer PC Games for digital download and we've always stood by our customers when it comes to re-downloading.

The burn-to-DVD advice I highly second for digital downloads; better safe than sorry.

The system has trouble playing Mount and Blade.

I have an acer aspire 8730 2 dual core 2 ghz. with 4 gigs of ram. I have a 9600GT. I am running it ok. Mind you I only played the begining of the game and not the end game so I can't speak for the end game but running no problem. But so far so good. It says to play 1000 or 1400 stars you need 4 gigs of ram.

I would play the smaller star maps, you should be ok, but I can't say 100% since I am not a computer expert. I think you should be ok to play it. Hopefully some computer experts will know for shure if you can play it or not. I am not fimiliar with the 8600M GT, but I think you will be ok. If you are running Windows 7, I think it will run smoother than Vista.

I have similar specs; I think it could handle all but a huge universe smoothly. I'm surprised about your system having trouble with M&B: except for a small-hit to the framerate with extra large battles my similar system's barely challenged. Oh well, there are so many variables...:)

FWIW, I recently downloaded a very old title I had from Matrix...I can't remember what that was, but I have my Order IDs, last 6 digits of the card used and my email address so I can recover my games at www.findmyorder.com.

Well this would have been nice to know before I wasted the money on the download service...

Yeah, my laptop needs to play it in DX7 with everything turned off/low as it goes before it becomes playable.
