My niece is here to watch tomorrow's launch. So we skipped church and went to the beach. Everyone and their brother was at the beach. We still had a good time.

You beat me to that comment

Trip was very productive. With the exception of having a hard hard time adjusting to a greatly reduced number of trees , I think we will like Nebraska. Great food, nice housing, wonderful people and a much slower pace of life. After nearly 30 years of running full tilt from city to city , I think that we could use a 2-3 year break. Now to unpack and get life back to semi-normal and get ready for the big move.

Hey, I didnt "pick" us. In fact, if I was doing the "picking" I would have "picked" the French. If you wanna argue that point, however, take it up with God. I hear you fellas are supposed to be in close communication with him today.

So, you think youre gonna miss being flipped the bird at least 3 times during you commute home?

Obviously Yuri sees the word "Christians" as standing in for "Not ours". Some heretics, heathens and "none of the aboves" are grouped in as well.

That's right, Steve. I've got all y'alls grouped in there with the Druids and the B'hai.

Picked as in "picked on". I'm not sure about how close "we guys" are to him. Some times I talk to him. Maybe he listen. I don't know. Maybe I have more in common with Tevya than you'd think.

Fortunately in DC I don't drive to commute. But I won't miss being jammed into some fat woman screaming into here cell phones about her job/boyfriend/kid/mother etc! But I have got to admit , I'm impressed by living 9 miles from a major city and only needing 15 minutes to get there. And that was during "rush hour".

Found five mega book stores, 4 or 5 small independants, a bunch of brew pubs, a bazzillion steak houses, and even a few sushi bars! I also had the best steak of my life in one of those said brew pubs (a brew pub with great food?). A 8oz fillet that only cost me $24! I could learn to like that! We will see.

Actually, that sound more like the relationship between Conan and Crom.

Wow. Sounds like you've found paradise. Did you scope out any sailing venues?

After all, I think a place like NY would be wasted on you. I dont imagine you go clubbing much.

Genital, Steve, genital.

I still think one of the funniest lines in all of comedy was Rowan Atkinson's "Christian? Ah there you are. Yes, I'm afraid the Jews were right."

No , I didn't do much that didn't directly affect out trip (the books stores were to find city and local maps, histories, etc). NYC might be wasted upon me, as I've always been a Pub rather than club person (not a big dancer). I am very fond of very high end cocktail bars, theatre, symphony and the occassional opera. They tell me the symphony's pretty good (I'm dubious, but if they have a good chamber group I'll be happy). I see lots and lots of road trips in our future , with a couple of weekend train trips to Chicago thrown in.

The coolest thing (besides the SAC museum) is that the gate sentry , right outside the building that my wife will work in , is a B-17f Called "Homesick angel" that's painted up in 1942 eight AF colors! She's absolutely beatiful!

One thing that I will really miss are the big forrests (especially pine forests) that I'm used to. Not a whole lot of trees by comparison. But we will definately make the best of our time there.

The history part I can certainly understand. But as for maps, you do realize they have this new thing now? Its called the internet. I mean, it might be a series of tubes, but its pretty good for stuff such as maps, and even a bit of history.
