Hi guys,

after seeing a "please no multiplayer" thread I thought there is a need to stand up and fight for a multiplayer mode...

I think CF can get a lot more customers with a MP mode:

1.) For playing online (if you do a serial check) you need an original version and not a cracked one.

2.) I have some friends which would buy the game only if we could play together/against each other. And I don't think I am alone with that.

3.) Atm there is no GOOD 4x game(SOASE is NOT a real 4x game but it is good ) with multiplayer mode out there.


So for implementing MP in the game CF will aquire new customers AND will make a lot of people in this forum happy.

Definetly in your camp. Although at the moment I think they need to focus on bugs and other glaring problems as well as some of the core gameplay that needs to be added/balanced/changed. Seeing multiplayer down the road in an expansion would be awesome.

Sword of the Stars with expansion packs. That game is pretty much designed to be played multiplayer. The AI is decent but a human player who knows what he's doing wins every time even without resorting to abusing the AI.

Personally I think real time games don't turn well into multiplayer games especially games of Distant Worlds' scope. Also like jam said there's so many bugs, balance issues and tweaks to do that multiplayer should be feature for expansion if at all.

SOTS is a nice game but it is a light 4x game imho as it doesn't even scratch on the complexity of DW.

I always take MOO2 and compare other games with it, not in game mechanics but in deep accessibility and long time fun (I still play MOO2 regulary also with friends)

And DW is much more MOO2'isch as SOTS imo
