There are a huge number of cargo components giving over 37500 (70 components) at starting design for the MSP.

Compare to SSP with 3000 (6 components) and LSP with 4000 (8 components).

This means that the MSP is nearly the same size as the LSP.

I belive that MSP should have 7 Cargo components.

Hmm just started a new game (same settings) and the MSP had 3000 (6 Components). Restarted again and its back to 37500 cargo space.

Since Space ports cargo capacity appears to be identical to the planets cargo and is effectively infinite does the port need more than one cargo component?

I have tried a number of SSP and MSP with one cargo unit with out any apparent problems.

Yep, space ports share cargo with their planet. Since the beginning I remove all cargo bays from space ports, it does not even complain that it would need one.
