Hi,

I received this game quite some time ago but for various reasons didn't get around to trying it out until the past few days.

Anyhow, I am having a blast with it! It is quite fun. Like a true newb I am boldly trying to figure out how to play without bothering to look at the manual.

So I may have actual questions in the future, but for now just this one:

Is there a way to set the gamma / brightness in the game?

I have a crappy third hand CRT monitor and the game is so dark that, while playable, makes it a bit difficult to differentiate units and, especially, swamp from plains. I tried the game on a different system just to see how it is supposed to look and must say it is lovely on a good LCD monitor. I realize that the optimal solution would be to get a brand spanking new monitor but I don't have the money. It doesn't matter how cheap they are - I can't afford one. While I have really maximized the brightness on my existing monitor / video card settings so that most apps look fine and bright, it just doesn't help on this game.

Any suggestions?

Cześć!

Thanks.

Don't know if it will help much but have a look at the mod section of this forum if you haven’t done so already, there are lots of different map and counter mods, maybe one of them would make it easier to differentiate between different terrain and units.

Otto has a great idea there!  If you look at the Allied pages in the latest game chronicled in the AAR section you will see a map and counter set that are probably pretty easy to see.  If not this set then perhaps another.

OK, thanks for the suggestions.

I added the boardgame map from damastabongo and the counters from Agent S. I realize that these graphics mods may be derivatives of somebody else's work so whoever contributed I'd like to say "Thanks". Everything looks great and easy to distinguish now.

Couple more things.

Is there an easy way to remove games from my saved games list? My abandoned starts are beginning to pile up there.

Second, I realize it must be very challenging to program the AI for a game like this, and in my games it (the AI) seems to be doing not too badly. However, I started a game playing as France with every other country on AI control. This is OK, except that it is now February 1940 and Germany still hasn't defeated Poland. Not to say that the Poles are not brave and hardy, but their last unit has been holding out in Warsaw for about 4 months now. See picture below. So...if there is any ongoing work on a patch maybe you folks can take a look at this.

1)you can go to the data/saves folder and delete the unwanted save games folders

2) if the AI gets stuck on something like that, you can hit F12 and take control of that country for a turn or so, and then return it to AI control with F12 again. In this instance, take control of Germany, attack and take Warsaw, then release control back to the AI after the end of the turn.

Thanks gwgardner for the info.

Another thing - I had undeployed units prior to saving my game. When I loaded up the game to continue the undeployed units were gone. Minor thing but a bit irritating.
