Any chance to re-examine load costs prior to the next patch? C-47s should not be able to carry 25pdrs! The good news is that they still can't carry tanks. However, somehow destroyers manage to carry tanks as deck cargo! I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed much on this forum. Recommend the following:
1. A scrub of unit load cost to prevent equipment larger than 37mm gun/81mm Mtr from being air transported. Increase damage probability to air transport missions - its too easy to move alot of troops quickly.
2. Limiting JPN DDs and APDs to also carry only 37mm or 81mm or less cargo as well as fuel/supplies
3. US DDs should not be able to transport cargo - did not historically do this
4. Limit US APDs to carry only 37mm/81mm or less cargo as well as fuel/supplies
5. Allow AV ships to carry cargo if float planes have been removed. Japanese made use of these types of ships to transport heavy weapons to Guad.
6. Submarines should only be able to carry infantry, fuel or supplies (try loading a tank or heavy gun on a sub!)

C-47's can carry 25 pouders! They were able to carry a 105mm gun, which is about the same as a 25 pounder. They were also able to get a jeep inside a C-47! Have you noticed the C-47 won't carry the radar unit of a base force? Seems to me that was something easily disaasembled. Especial the ole bedspring design that was used in 42.

I think your right about the APDs. I've noticed they carry D-6 cats as well! I'd like to see a bulldozer on the deck of an ole 4 piper! But they should be able to haul artillery up to 105mm guns and 25 pounders!

No comment on the subs, that's silly!

Cliff,

I don't think C-47s could carry any type of arty. Artillery was delivered by glider in the European Theater, as were light vehicles during airborne operations. I don't believe the C-47 had the cargo capacity - entry/exit or cube space for arty or vehicles.

As for the APDs, should be troops or supplies/fuel only. At least with the flush-deck converted APDs. Conway's "All the worlds fighting ships" specifically states for the APDs, "144 troops, no cargo".

use C-47`s in India and Burma to fly in 25 Pdrs. I don`t have the specific references at hand however.

If you dismounted the Tube from the Carriage, as well as the wheels, I would think it possible to load it .
