Research Question - 4/14/2010 6:32:06 PM

There is a component that is the next step in a industrial category (the component is an Enhanced Shipyard). The reseach towards it says 1k. I have built a 4 Industrail lab (whicn makes my research now 48k from my original 24k in Industry). But the 1k in the Enhanced Shipyard has not budged at all. I thought about crash researching it, but its cost is still out of my league (fairly early in the game).

Can anybody tell me why the research for this component is not moving? I am not crash researching anything right now.

Thanks!

How much time has passed so far? Are other Industrial items increasing?

Where research points land is fairly random, it seems. Plus, 48 research is a laughable, puny amount. You call that research? No wonder it's not moving!

Then can you please enlighten the rest of us? Don't say such a thing without properly clarifying. Especially since the game's so new and most of us don't know ANYTHING.

New game - maybe two months in.

Again, new game, maybe 2 months in. I have not even had a Small Spaceport finished at any of my new colonies (I have 5 new colonies, largest is only 34m pop).

Thanks, that's a short enough time that it it may just require more patience. Have other Industrial techs advanced?

What speed did you set research speed at the beginning of the game, has quite an effect on it to.

I am not positive if any of my Industrial techs have advanced. Sorry. I know that others have. I will be watching more closely the next time I play.

Set it to normal - as everything else is. And the age of civilizations is "Start".

BTW - for me, even start is to advanced a civilization, lol. I would have prefed just spaceport, a couple of mining ships and a constructor ship. And just enough tech to produce my first Escort.

That is a justifiable explanation of why your research effort is sort of laughable, but also completely covers why absolutely nothing has happened in it.
