bought this over the Easter weekend,

Loving the game, its well on its way to be one of the greats alongside 4X's such as master of orion,

anyway, down to the question:

- I started a fresh new game, 1 planet start. - I stopped all construction ships and took them off automation - I immediately obsoleted and redesigned the gas and rock mine bases, and added a few more shields and weapons to them to hopefully keep the pesky pirates away.. - I then put all construction ships back on automation,

The constuction ships then started to build the obsoleted mines! .. played the game for another 30mins - 45mins and not a single new one that i designed was built.. why?

Running 1.2

about oboletion: usually at the beginning of a game i redesign everything by 'copy as new'. With this option the old design is not obsoleted. I always forget to obsolete the old designs >.< Maybe that's same issue for me.

I read the underlined part, but i always forget to obsolete them...maybe you too forgot it...

Right now you have to "Copy as New" and Obsolete the old designs.

Then it will work.

Try this again with 1.0.3 please, I'm not sure it's entirely resolved but it may be improved.

oh i get this problem sometimes too....its annoying. Its even worse for me. At the start of the game i DELETE all the 4 different research stations (while game is paused) and proceed to make one uber research base that contains everything (its cheaper that way). I unpause the game and 30 mins later, i (miraculously at that) see the deleted research bases built at a black hole. Since u dont start the game with any research bases whatsoever (not for my games anyway...), those were almost definitely built on automation. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Yeah this is realy annoying.

Strangest thing was I made a new Star base (armed one ) where i added the option to salvage exotic goods. Then i had no problem when i told the builder to built this specialised station.

But when i did it with the gas/mining stations ...

It's clear there are still some issues with AI automation and base design as far as it re-creating its own designs and using older ones - we are looking to fix them as soon as possible.

I completely agree with the research facility problem. I remove all research labs from my space ports and make a size 600 mega research facility from a 'copy as new' energy research design. I then obsolete that original design (and I have deleted it) and yet the construction ships still happily build the old energy research style lab instead of my heavily armed / shielded monstrosity. The Imperial Kingdom of Terra is not amused!

I have the same probleme when I want create or edit new designs, many crash.

I think it's a link with civilian ship facility.

I copy as new a freighter. Stay old designs in no-obsolete. Spaceport Automaton build again and again old designs. When I obsolete old designs, game crash a few seconds after.

Okel,

Do by any chance have a save file handy that could allow us to duplicate that?

Regards,

- Erik

It's the save game.

I just start a new party, pause game when he launch. Copy as new all designs, adding them 5 shield. Mark obsolet all old designs. Save the designs. Wait few minutes in 4X. Crash

I'd like to add my two cents,

1 - Auto-designer needs more smarts, or some settings 2 - The Quameno Nova reactor is ignored by Auto-design, but not the 'upgrade selected' design button. (also, why am I researching Fusion Reactor when it's worse than the Nova...)

The automated designer drives me mad.  I'd love an option for 'Civilian ships only'.

Ex: StarPorts - I remove the labs (I'll make one big lab and jam in a neutron star) Labs       - I remove the Medical / Recreation facilities (a waste in front of that neutron star)

Auto-design comes by (eventually) and adds _new_ designs with the default labs and Med / Rec facilities.  All the AI constructors build the 'new' designs...

I can only abandon Auto-design.

What I really want is for Auto-design to act just like pressing 'upgrade selected'

Failing that, can the components in the design view be grouped with a count? That way I can see all the components at once, and I don't have to count my weapons to determine how many reactors I need...

Thanks, Phez
