Hey all thought I'd say hi like they told me too, heh.

Been playing this awesome game off and on since 5.0 and recently upgraded to 7.1 to see what goodies they added. Well unfortuneatly 7.1 is partially broken for me.

The Campaign Generator is totally bugged. No matter what nation I choose or what map type I want to start on, IE. rough or jungle ect. it ALWAYS places me in Central Europe! on a Plains map, even if I campaign with the japanese, which I though was funny till I beat the scenario just to see what the next mission would be. Something odd happened then, the game started treating the generator like a WWII campaign( the other campaign option) IE. you pick a front and no longer can choose your map type or your opposing nations like your suppose to. Even worse was that NO front button appeared at all and I had to quit the game and restart. I did not have this problem in 5.0, I preferr the Generator because you start with 5000 rather than the smaller 3500 in the WWII campaigns.

Also the game will sometimes crash to desktop when it's working out a penetration algorythm when a tank is hit, which again never happened in 5.0.

I have used the upgrade patch AND also tried the full 7.1 install, they are both buggy that way.

Anyone know what's going on? cuz this is wack. Thanks for any help.

There is a bug in the Campaign generator. The proper map and location won't show up until you finish buying you core forces and press done, then when choosing support units the proper map and locations are displayed.

Hello gmenfan thanx for the reply, but I get that bug, it's no big deal since as you say, it fixes itself after your support is available.

No this bug is when your in the scenario, deployment and all and my Italians were fighting on a nice green Plains map in Central Europe against the British!! yeesh! hehe

when I beat the scenario however it switched to WWII campaign mode by giving me the world map thing where you choose a front, only with the italians they had no front to choose! so I had to quit and restart, wasted 15+ playing hours on that huge assault map too :(

I tested out the british next usin campaign generator, set all 3 opponents to Italy and the terrain to Desert in may or june of 1940.

Well the date was right and I DID fight italians but once again on a plains map in central europe! no sand anywhere in sight.
only when I finished with the english it let me pick a front instead of the no front bug showing up but it was buggered since I wanted to fight in the desert not in europe!

It seem the Generator is ignoring my terrain settings, always slappin me in Europe in a nice green plains map no matter what I set it as, funny watching japan fight in central europe! :P

That and the fact that after the 1st mission it ceases to use the Generator at all since I can no longer set my enemies or terrain.

I had no problems at all with the previous version 6.0 or whatever it was, and I know what a campaign generated ..campaign is suppose to look like with each battle letting you change the terrain and enemies to fight, so something is badly broken in 7.1, but I dont know why nobody else has mentioned this? Am I the only one who has tried to use the Generator? Since I know the most guys who play this game like the wild bill campaigns more or the WWII generator which makes better maps and campaign flow. WEll I would have submitted this to a bug's thread but there isn't one?? I sure hope they are workin on a newer version else maybe someone can tell me where I can get the previous version...thanx again!!!

I dont know what's going on, but after I posted my last reply and downloaded the 7.1x OOB's and put them in my directory and when I fired up the campaign generator, it suddely started working properly!!

I swear to god that last night, without the 7.1x oob's, it was totally broken. I dunno what those new oobs do but I guess they fixed the problem somehow cuz everything is working now! Confusing as hell. Maybe someone can shed some light on what the new oob's add since there is no update or readme that came with it, thanx alot and sorry for all this typing!!

Mongoose, I know you said you updated SPWAW to ver 7.1 but does the game really say 7.1 in the opening selection menu? To apply the update properly you would of had to remove the space between Matrix Games(MatrixGames) in the installation path verification, not doing so cause files no to be overwritten properly given you a bad update.

Hello gmenfan, yep the menu confirmed it was 7.1 when I did the update but I uninstalled it and downloaded the 7.1 full anyways just to see if things got better.

Well things didn't get better till I installed the 7.1x oob's so I was just wondering if my crashing and campaign generator problems were oob based, is that possible? Since I do not know what the oob's fixed. Thanx for the suggestions!
