I noticed that most of my construction ships were getting a bit dated, (1st generation and all) so I did a mass select on the construction yard screen and told them to retrofit to the latest design. Quite a while later, I still don't have any back in service. Since the first thing I did in this game was retrofit a construction ship, I knows that's working.

After deciding I needed some more anyway, I went to queue in the build queues. When I got to my home planet, I found all of the old ships already there waiting to retrofit. This explains why they took so long to come back into service.

So my question is, how is the retrofit location determined. As it happens in this game, my home colony is at at one end of an expansion and I kinda went out from there. It's also the only planet with an LSP. All those old ships had to travel halfway across the galaxy to reach that one colony to retrofit.

I noticed this on military ships as well, but put it down to telling the fleet to retrofit so it tried to find the closest large base to do it at since it skipped all of the SSPs along the way. (it was also the home colony for the fleet since I was just always on the move.)

I'll upload a save if you want, but I'm just not sure if it's a bug or by design. I will say it's weird though.

I too have noticed something like that when I ordered a mass retrofit of exploration ships through the Ships & Bases screen. All my exploration ships have made the retrofit without any problem, but they went all to my home planet (whose spaceport I had ordered to retrofit to a large one from the original medium) to do it, even though there were other spaceports closer than this one.

I have noticed this with retroing constructors, building colony ships and rearely with upgrading space ports. All related to planetary built items. I suspect it has something to do with the new size limits for planets they put into the new patch. Hopefully Erik is looking at this, it is very common.
