There could be many reasons for this. Probably a search on "air combat results", or some similar combination of keywords, will give you a bit more insight into what to expect during campaigns. Even better, one of the "air heads" may reply to your thread with a series of tips. From my own experience, I have found the weather will often subtly affect air combat results. Poor weather can be present for long periods resulting in less "bloody" intercepts. If it helps, I have played about half a dozen "long" campaigns from both sides through to mid '43 and I have never encountered any consistent "unexplained" drop off in a/c effectiveness. There will always be occasions where units that performed well yesterday were hopeless the next. The factors influencing air combat are generally mentioned in the rules. If my results were not as expected, I just assume it was due to a different combination of factors. I would suggest a bit of persistance and if things don't improve then congratulations, you may have uncovered a previously unknown bug (hopefully you've patched to 1.2). Also it may help your cause if you give a detailed example of a combat (ie altitude, weather, exact no's etc) especially if it's accompanied by a cut'n'paste of the actual combat result summary from the game (I think you will find it in document form in the main UV directory). It may encourage the experienced players to comment due to it being a specific example.
