I was just reading some threads where some gamers stated their age. It seems there are a LOT of wargamers in their forties, fifties, and above. I'm 60 and have been wargaming since I was about 11 or 12. That was back when there were only about eight Avalon Hill wargame titles available in the entire world. Not counting Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers, my first game was Tactics II followed quickly by Battle of the Bulge.

So if you don't think it's an invasion of privacy, how old are you and how long have you been wargaming?

No problem with that There have been topics like this before and I think most of us are 40-50... and counting

I'm 48, wargamer since the seventies, since the eighties on the consoles and pc.
(Gosh, when I registered I was... sort of, young..., now I'm almost 50, sheesh)

I'm 20 and I've been wargaming (computer only) for about six or seven years. It wasn't until last year that I consider myself to have gotten into more "serious" wargaming (wargames with lots of units and more depth).

I am 44.....First game I ever got was from my history teacher in my 1st year of high-school....Was a copy of the S&T with South Africa in it. Followed by France '40 and then many more...Gave up board gaming in about 90-92 and restarted roughly after my heart surgery a few years ago. Now I actually have a collection that surpassed the one I had back then......I love EBAY

67 here! Gaming from when Avalon Hill games were sold by 3M. I can't remember what year that was. Probably around 1965....

59 - started at about 10 years old or so when my oldest brother wanted to play a board game he bought and was hard up to find somone to play against. I won and was hooked at that point. I purchased almost every Avalon Hill title after that for quite a few years.

Hence the signature below I often attach to my postings.

49... didn't get into serious board gaming like others as a kid.. played Milton Bradleys Broadsides.. loved that one, think they had a WWI dogfight game.. didn't know about the more serious ones.... in the 80's played Empire on a Vax 11/780.. really enjoyed that.. upgraded to Empire Deluxe on PC when that came out.. used to have Steel Panthers.. Perfect General.. Panzer General Series... enjoy Strategy.. FPS (with friends) some RPG (Fallout3)

BTW...Happy Birthday!

Enjoy being young. The worst thing to happen when you get older is that young ladies start calling you "sir". I still can't get used to that.

54 going on 18...

Been gaming since 1968.
Started on miniatures, then board gaming, and onto PC's in the 90's.

Actually met Gary Gygax at Gen Con back in 1973.
Anyone ever heard of that late great visonary?

I'm 38 been gaming on a PC since 83 which was a BBC B micro 32K. As for boardgames I never really had a liked minded person to play against...owned a few but never played them...except Kingmaker and Car Wars and its two sequels. The beauty of the PC was you didn't need someone else to play against. Sad ain't it??

Actually, I attended the very first gen con held at the small American Legion building in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. Gen Con would then move to UW Parkside which I attended a couple of years and then on to Milwuakee before making the last move to Indiana. I also would go to Gygax's game store in downtown Lake Geneva. Then of course he made it big with Dungeons and Dragons. I was a wargamer though, not a fantasy game fanatic.

Good grief I momentarily got forgot how old I was yes that's it 57 I think . My first game was Action Stations, on 51/4 inch discs! Still one of the best wargames I've played. I would love a remake.

Over 50 but well under 60. Started with A/H about 1968. Prior to that I also was playing some MB games such as Broadside-I had forgotten about that until mentioned above. They also had a Civil War game IIRC.

One eye teared up when I read the following. Not that it is sad, but rather funny and telling at the same time. I had Tactics too, not two.
