I know there will be no AE tutorial, however, reading the 'Is this Game worth it threads' lately got me thinking.

When I first stumbled across WITP I found it extremely confusing and daunting.

The tutorial however sold me on the game and I found it very useful for not only explaining the mechanics but also some of the design concepts and strategy etc. behind the Pacific War.
When reading the 'Action' / 'Logic' sections it was almost as if a lightbulb went off and the whole grand design became apparent to me.

I just had a quick look back at it and still feel that many parts are still relevant to AE.

My question:

1. Do you guys think the WITP tutorial would do more harm than good due to significant differences between it and AE?

2. Would it be possible to make it available to new AE players?

As I said I think that it is still very useful if not read to closely if you know what I mean.

Problem with a Tutorial is AE just has to much information, which trying to cover in a tutorial would probably take forever. Also the manual is pretty straight forward, just takes some attempts to learn and play at same time. On one hand I agree a tutorial would be interesting for new players, on other hand the vast information trying to conver, I dunno.

Don't give up hope about a tutorial davbaker, they said we would never get multiple resolution support, but now we have it. As I and many others have discovered in life, Schools, Textbooks, Tutorials etc will only give you so much. Sometimes first hand experience is the best lesson in life and the game. Play the game, read the manual and forums, don't be afraid to ask questions. I've been playing this game for years and learn something new about the game every time I read the forums.

Thanks for the replies but I dont think I framed my question correctly.

What I was saying was I thought the WITP (i.e. original not AE) tutorial PDF to be very useful when first learning WITP.

Looking back at it I still think it has some value, even though a lot of things have changed between it and AE.

I was asking for non WITP owners if this could be made available as-is as a special download maybe.

I'm just the opposite - I never once touched the tutorials in WiTP. I just dived right in and figured things out through trail and error (along with consulting the rule book when needed). I hate watching/doing tutorials and much rather just "play."

The best way to learn AE in my opinion is by playing a smaller scenario, such as Guadalcanal. I first learned WiTP by playing a smaller scenario - which made the move to the full campaign game much easier.

But, as they say - everybody learns differently!

So well put, even now I read forums instead of playing demos.
