ORIGINAL: sprior Is this true Eric? What exactly is "heavy legs"? Hard answer Simon. Do you want a funny answer, or a serious one ? We could also debate for a long time, and in the end come in political debate (that i will try to avoid). But, true, the french are a bit hypocondriacs. We are know to be some of the greatest user of psycho-medics for stress and others stuff (that i don't know the name in english, i am very sorry), related to the number of people. Also it seem that some diagnosis matter differently in countrys: it is supposed the asian people care about...hmmm, how to say it, their "men" part a lot, although the french seem to think they are OK with this. On the counterpart, maybe we have "heavy legs" and the english don't feel this; and so on. For my own i never felt "heavy legs" (but sometimes i feel "heavy" , usually after weighing myself). But i already had hear this, this is true. But NOT to the point of not going to work. About the french hospital system: i think that is is seen as one of the best of the world, not only because the french doctors give a lot of medics (as said in the article) but also because healthcare is partly paid by our social system, and because a lot of medical acts (surgery or heavy acts) are really good (not saying they are the best, but they are good). And there are also some specifics acts where the french are at the top (putting new hands to a man that loose both for example). The french governement (and here i am closing with political debate, so i must keep cautious) try to reduce the number of medics that get paid by social system rather than the patient himself. Of course the debate is " is this medic really useful or only comfort" and there are pros and against this debate. Most of you know that my beloved wife has a huge disease, and also some psy troubles right now. When you hear that some medics will not longer be paid back, you want to shout "hey guys, this no comfort here, this is a life matter !". But i can also understand that some medics are really comfort. One could also ask himself about the mental of the people: is the life more easy elsewhere ? Is the life hard to stand in France, with high stress in work/city/else, that could explain that people feel less well, or "jump" on the opportunity to stay at home when having a cold or a flue ? Also i think the governement act sometimes in strange ways. One way they tell you "oh please stop whinning about your cold, get on your feet and come to work", and the others one they yell "This damn Pig Flue will kill everyone !! Get a medic right now, and your governement will pay thousand of millions euros to protect you". SO you see, it is really hard to answer (and if it was not clear, i made it short ). And don't forget that the French are ALWAYS WHINNING (for a good example you could go and see my AAR on old witp forum). But don't tell them in face, or you could have a bad reaction
