Personally, I liked Wallace's love better than Marceau.

I also liked her "handmaiden"....whatever the right term is.

She played the French princess.

I know, Mike. But her character would have been 3 years old (see above for caveat) at the time Wallace was executed.

There are others worng issues in the film: Edouard Second would be younger too; Edouard I was not in war with King Philippe IV at the time of the story (there was a truce); Edouard Ist did not died at the time of Wallace death; the minion of Edouard II was not killed at this time by Edouard I (wich in the film through him out of window), although some history sources say that Edouard I really get ride of one friend of his son in brutal ways. And the Scots never ever reached York (although Bruce, not Wallace, did often raid North England during the long war between 1302 and 1314, before Bannockburn). And Bruce never betray Wallace: they were not even friend.

SO history is as usual in a movie betray.
But anyway, i liked the film.
And i liked Sophie Marceau (but this is not new ). And you guys surely didn't seen her younger in her first few movies....

Not to mention that only one of the battles was actually fought by Wallace.

But yes, I like the movie very much. It has just the right mix of action and comedy.

You could play it in the nude.

1) Stop giving him ideas
2) How do you know he doesnt already?
3) Does that give you a positive modifier?

1/ I welcome "out of the box" thinking.
2/ There could be a reason why I have my webcam off ...
3/ Hmm ... maybe you should put that question out in the main forum to see if somebody is willing to test that theory.

I'm going to forgo posting a response....

I'm generally in favor of nudity.

Just put on some clothes. The wife will be home soon.

That's when I fire up AE!

Maybe you and Per should get an NPBEM going.

That would be the first game where an AAR would be absolutely forbidden ...

Cause no one wants to see the screenshots.

No, but my kids were. My sole personal encounter with a doctor in 8 years there was to have some suspicious looking moles on my back removed.

Hard answer Simon.
Do you want a funny answer, or a serious one ?
We could also debate for a long time, and in the end come in political debate (that i will try to avoid).
But, true, the french are a bit hypocondriacs.
We are know to be some of the greatest user of psycho-medics for stress and others stuff (that i don't know the name in english, i am very sorry), related to the number of people.
Also it seem that some diagnosis matter differently in countrys: it is supposed the asian people care about...hmmm, how to say it, their "men" part a lot, although the french seem to think they are OK with this. On the counterpart, maybe we have "heavy legs" and the english don't feel this; and so on.
For my own i never felt "heavy legs" (but sometimes i feel "heavy" , usually after weighing myself). But i already had hear this, this is true. But NOT to the point of not going to work.
About the french hospital system: i think that is is seen as one of the best of the world, not only because the french doctors give a lot of medics (as said in the article) but also because healthcare is partly paid by our social system, and because a lot of medical acts (surgery or heavy acts) are really good (not saying they are the best, but they are good). And there are also some specifics acts where the french are at the top (putting new hands to a man that loose both for example).
The french governement (and here i am closing with political debate, so i must keep cautious) try to reduce the number of medics that get paid by social system rather than the patient himself. Of course the debate is " is this medic really useful or only comfort" and there are pros and against this debate.
Most of you know that my beloved wife has a huge disease, and also some psy troubles right now. When you hear that some medics will not longer be paid back, you want to shout "hey guys, this no comfort here, this is a life matter !". But i can also understand that some medics are really comfort.
One could also ask himself about the mental of the people: is the life more easy elsewhere ? Is the life hard to stand in France, with high stress in work/city/else, that could explain that people feel less well, or "jump" on the opportunity to stay at home when having a cold or a flue ?
Also i think the governement act sometimes in strange ways. One way they tell you "oh please stop whinning about your cold, get on your feet and come to work", and the others one they yell "This damn Pig Flue will kill everyone !! Get a medic right now, and your governement will pay thousand of millions euros to protect you".

SO you see, it is really hard to answer (and if it was not clear, i made it short ).
And don't forget that the French are ALWAYS WHINNING
(for a good example you could go and see my AAR on old witp forum).
But don't tell them in face, or you could have a bad reaction

It seem to me (from an english book, not french source) that Wallace fought both at Stirling Bridge ( in the movie i see no bridge, no swamp, no marsh....) and Falkirk (and in there i see no hill and no woods were the scots were scattered and defeated...).
So not to argue, but are you sure Wallace was only at one of them ?

What i could tell is that Wallace would have looked like more like Bruce in the movie: he was a small aristocrat and landowner, on the "continental" model that spread in Europe at XIIcentury; he was not like the Highlander described...and he was not an Highlander (was he not from ....Ah damn, can't remenber the shire near Glasgow ) .
AND there never was some "Prima Nocte" (first night) for the lord of a land !
This is supposed to be a legend build by the historian of 19th century, mostly in France (don't know about English historian) to "charge guilty" the "old regime"of the nobles and kings.

and i still ike Sophie Marceau

Bobo;
It is a bit spread out as all large cities are. There are still some paper mills in the area. Be careful where you decide to live because you can smell them in certain areas.

I will check with some people.

Only 30 miles south is St Augustine, the oldest city in the US. It's a great place for history buffs to visit. The Castillio De san Marcos is great!

Hi Bobo! Hope you are well!

Steve is the man you want to talk to. He's lived there in the past, and I think plans to retire there. He's on the road to his new home in Nebraska, but may check email if you send him one. I've visited friends in J'ville and enjoyed it, but can't give you a first hand opinion.

Second that about St Augs. Had two great visits there, including the castle.
