I really like this game. But there is one thing that really needs improving. The economy is such a crucial core game play element but it is too much of a black box. It doesn't bother me that I have limited control over it, that's part of the charm of the game, but I need to get more info out of the economic engine. In particular, I'd like to know what I'm trading (in terms of resources) and to whom and how much I'm getting for it. More historical information would be extremely valuable. For example, when some tourists show up at a resort base, for a period of time the Empire Summary will show me 6k (or whatever). That's great, but what I really need to know is how much are each of the bases making since they've been created, and how much have they cost me. I.e. are the profitable? Similarly, how much money am I making from selling resource X... is it worth me making another mining station to get more of it? I cannot answer that question with the information I'm currently given in the game. The other thing is, tech brokering has got to go. In fact, I'd like to see the option to remove tech trading all together, but at a minimum tech brokering must go. Its been a problem in almost every strategy game that has had it, from Civ 1 until ... well Distant Worlds. Civ IV made the right decision in making it optional. But overall, a very very good game. Despite these issues, I'm having a lot of fun playing it.
