Well I think he doesn't care. ;-)
Also be aware of Stalingrad itself, you should only take it if you are sure he can't get it back in the same turn, otherwise there will be a supply bug giving him +2% Supply for the intire game.

greetings.

Don't see the Turn 122 ... only the last one (121).

Is it only me?

Is it only me?

I'm sorry you're having trouble seeing the turns available. I have no idea what the problemo is. Turn 123 is also available ( for the rest of us I guess ).

Hey, my assigned HRS squads finally hit 33K. Does this mean I can start attacking again in earnest?

I'm thinking of switching over to the defensive mode since my Armies are so depleated and the Soviet '42 Winter Offensive is going to begin soon. That includes some pull-backs to straighten my lines and go for more defensible positions etc. Thoughts? Anybody?

If I were you I wouldn't attack in earnest at all, I'd keep fighting in Russia.

I can see the turns now, thx.

Leningrad situation is kinda funny, gotta respect the Russian spirit

You should pull back in the south - after all you dont wanna get encircled.

The sensible thing would be to pull back, on the other had this is the perfect wargame for winter '42. Without Army group A wandering off in the Caucasus and probably a smaller version of Operation Mars up north. All other elements are there: a fatigued german army in the south, huge massing of russian forces, hidden by maskirova on the russian side.

Could the germans have managed if it had not split up AGS and would Vatutin's plan still be succesfull (now more Saturn than Mars), just be known as the battle of the Don bend

Look at it this way, the guys of 7thFJ HQ won't be alone with christmas, I think, Vasilevsky and Rokkosovski are planning a christmas party at their place and half the RKKA is invited

Maybe you should construct a littlebit (2 or 3) of defensive line, the germans did have a tendency to do that

I meant more Saturn than Uranus of course, and maybe the Encirclement battle of the Don Bend sounds better

Here's an interesting turn of events. Dave has pushed some Soviet divisions across the river at a spot that was left unguarded and has established a sort of bridgehead. When things like this happen what the commander tells his troops is: "Well, the enemy finally fell into our trap...".

It looks like Dave has finally fallen into my trap guys.

The good news is, there seems to be only a few Soviet reserves. The bad news is, there seems to be only a few Axis reserves.

I keep telling myself.....all I have to do is keep him out of Berlin.....all I have to do is keep him out of Berlin.

I posted the AAR for turn 124 and good news....I finally captured Leningrad. Cool. You can find the AAR

The AAR is not there. Btw Larry, when I played against you, your biggest mistake, without a doubt, was leaving hexes unguarded. I can see that this is the case in a few places along your frontline, and you should solve this ASAP, as it seems dave is finally attacking.

Although, he is without a doubt a very cautios player...the crossing wasn't contested, even the ZOC's weren't, he could have driven straight into your rear area and cause some major havoc.

Yes, he could have caused some MAJOR concern and yes I did leave it unguarded by a major mistake and Dave capitalized on it because he's a better player than I am, I'm learning still,....And I pointed out the greater havoc he could have caused if only he had broken the bridge immediately to the east of one of his TANK units and did he want to play his turn over and capitalize on that little bonus but I haven't heard back from Dave....I hope he's okie dokie.

Well, is that the longest sentence anybody has ever posted?

Hey Larry how could you make possible that borders are always on? I only see borders next to my units in my fite game.

Sounds to me like you have "no borders" turned on. Once you start a PBEM game you can't turn it off I don't think. But in a hot-seat game I'm thinking you can turn it off maybe. I don't remember. But in my game with Dave it's not an option to turn it on or off. I'm guessing that I had it turned off when I started my game with Dave.

I for one would be curious to know what the Soviet losses are right about now.

EDIT: I posed the AAR for turn 126 already, on my site. It's still at http://65.101.188.183

I'm going to lose the use of a lot of planes in the near future. I really can't afford to lose those either. The air war is being lost by the Axis and it's just a matter of time before the Axis air force will be ineffective.

I posted the AAR for turn 127 already.

Well these counters running out of planes, you get bf 109 late and fw 190 late counter as an exchange. As you may will notice your bf 109 early production stopped at round 108...

So this withdraw will make your fighters even more strong. Have you ever looked at the fite word document?

regards pio

As an suggestion for future behaviour, fall back near stalingrad in the mud season and start to consolidate your frontlinies - make yourself a plan where you will need your tank divisions and pzg div. Put only infantry Divisions in the frontlines and watch out where your opponment might start to attack.

In general I think it is time to go over to defend.

Full Ack.

@Fulkerson: What are these rumors of a war being lost? Clearly you need some propaganda:

Dave and I are in the second turn of the '42 fall mud season and I've started a pull-back to more defensivable positions.

Now THAT is a pullback. The Führer would have had you executed in notime - high treason!
I am looking forward to that defensive line, hope you've got some surprises for the Soviets
