When do we open the discussion forum?

What is the style of the strategic map?

I see that is answered in one of the screen shots. It resembles CC5.

Hi guys,

A new product info page and a Coming Soon forum will be up shortly, probably tomorrow.

MajFrankBurns, these remakes require a lot of work to complete. No one is forcing you to buy any particular game. We accept constructive criticism, but not bashing.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik, I haven't gotten the earlier Close Combat remakes yet, not from lack of interest though.

But I am wondering, and I suppose others might have wondered, has ANY thought gone into making a package deal of all three remakes at a modest price reduction for the set as a single item?

I understand the games themselves are not identical. The games were not identical in the first place.

But I would be very interested in getting them as a unified purchase if it was realistically worth it.
I'm not talking a major price reduction, just enough to merit mention.

For that matter, is it even possible to have them unified into a single installer? A one installation process?
I'm thinking of something similar to how John Tiller's Campaign series was after all originally three separate games.

And yes, I would pretty much assume this unified concept wouldn't be 50 or 60 bucks. It would after all be three games. edit Actually looking at the store, the price of just The two current titles is 80 bucks approx already. I guess the point is, could all three be priced such that it was even worth it to get it below 120 assuming Close Combat 2 ends up similarly priced. Making all 3 no more than 100 would help. (I can just hear the comments now regarding 100 bucks hehe).

I will gladly pay full price for a chance to play CC2 again with some updates, and in widescreen mode. I paid full price for "Cross of Iron" and did not regret it for a moment.

That's fine I wasn't taking anything from that form of view, just merely presenting "my own". I can play the ones I have on my Netbook now anyways.

I hope to play "that oen board" multiplayer, where the gamey-gamey force setup for the allies was 6 stuart tanks and 6 half squads.  :)

Yeah but it was a view that had no reason to be given other than to crap on a thread....you wear your screen name very well sir, bravo. It's the last CC they can remake, I think you can deal with it.

Very excited! finally get the one I wanted the most. I want it the day before yesterday.

I think that the original CC2 campaign model is better than CC5 campaign model.
I do not want the map to be completely area-based.
And also I do not want the force pool method and prefer the purchase points method.
Force pool (though more realistic) has no challenge, I just get the best of the best troops and massacre the dumb AI doing the infamous "crawl of death". At least in the purchase points method, I need to pay dearly for good troops and preserve them more. I need to save valuable purchase points and buy cheap troops occasionally (yes, it's gamey and not historical but it is challenging).

Hope the remake keeps the old CC2 campaign mechanics. Oh or better yet finally improve the AI (which I have not seen in the remakes).

BTW, I still have CC2 installed in my HDD after all these years. I think CC2 is best of the series because of the campaign elements. CC3 kept the pruchase point option but the campaign is just a series of pre-determined operations (Germany always loses the war... it's how much damaged you do to the Russians that counts). CC4 and CC5 used the area map + force pool method... and I really hate the force pool method.

Actually most of the games from Matrix are REMAKES!

I could never understand why the changed taht part of the game in CC3 onwards...CC2 had the best method for the campaign and I wish they had developed it rather than changed it totally.

The original CC2 scenarios and campaign game was the best of the bunch IMO but some much needed tuning to go with the new version like changing weapons stats AND ammo loadout, especially mortar ammo is required.
It can be done.

Look at some of the " Real" mods out there based on GJS. A big selling point would be an easy and _ well documented_ editor that enables players to do those minor changes in the entire series.

That alone I would pay BFTB prices for.

The Atomic boys had great talent but poor judgement about what their audience wanted or liked......and way to much Eastern Front stuff IMO

Correct me if I'm wrong but Atomic released only one eastern Front game in the Close Combat series.
