Many times I have picked on the wrong TF and during the whipping I receved wished that I had the ability to retreat from battle.

( Nuttn wrong with tucking tail today to kick-*** another day.)

Any chance of this opportunity to show a lil yellow streak to be implemented in the game?

"Lay down some smoke and run for your lives boys"

Hmmmmm......

.... the only smoke is comming from my burning ships:(

Yes

Have the TF set to "Alllowed to retire". Other than that, once the game turn starts, you are commited until your next orders phase.

The decsion is not up to you its up to your commander of the TF...so you just get to sit around and watch your poor TF get blown to smithereens ;-)

Normaly my orders to TF commanders are (patrol/do not react on enemy) well once i have suffered big loose cos Yamato and Musashi made surprise attack against my Transport TF in Lunga... well i loose every AP & AK in that TF :D

After that i have been putting little bit more often react on enemy orders :)

It also depends upon what TF commander you have chosen. An aggressive commander is less likely to withdraw from combat than a cautious one.
