Is there a legend somewhere explaining what all of the different colors mean?

I RTFM but only located a couple of lines of text on the subject.

Some are obvious, others are not so obvious.

From the manual, scetion 4.2.2, page 40:

Blue = Ocean/Lake hexside - Naval unit movement only
Purple = River hexside - Ground unit movement only
Green = Ground unit movement only
White = Both Naval and Ground unit movement
Red = Impassable hexside - No Naval or Ground unit movement

To display hexsides, use the F6 key.
More information about hexes can be found in the manual, section 4.2, pages 36-41.

And when pressing "w"-key, one can see hex-side ownership (sometimes quite important).

Interesting...

I typed in "hexside details" (no quotes) in the search function in acrobat and the only hits I got were on page 5, 27, 28, & 325

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
