on their way to southern waters (Oz coast) it happened that KB, consisting of nine carriers and several other units in three TFs met the enemy Carrier force. They sailed with no CAP at all overhead... a deadly mistake in these hostile waters. However a lucky circumstand for us.

KB´s A/C attacked at extreme range, but with nice results thanks to our extraordinary training programm. The experience and skill of our pilots is just marvellous.

It appears Ralf got some very lucky "hits" from extended / maximum range to do some "critical system damage" and a few "ammo explosions" against my CVs to make them inoperable... It also appears that most will not be able to launch any aircraft and Ralf will bring the hammer down hard next turn to sink all 6 of them in 1 turn.... unless of course he brings his AV and CS float planes into the action to gain experience for those pilots then it might be 2 turns of pain and suffering for the Allied Captains of the remaining/sinking ships......

rather than "very lucky" it was not too surprising that they performed so well - considering that not a single CAP fighter disturbed our attack...

Today we continued the pursuit and managed to deliver some decent strikes onto the enemy TF. They have split into many several groups in the meantime, and at least one US carrier still operates A/C.
The allied counterstrike falied to make it thru our screen of over 160 Type "0" fighter aircraft and got shredded.

Turn 76: KB closed in for another raid on the enemy flattops. Three of them were reported sunk at the end of the day.

on the other side of the map our navy is busy too... a rather small sized bombardment group found a juicy convoy in Espiritu Santo harbour..

Turn 80 - July 19th 1942. The last remaining enemy carrier in the vicinity, the SARATOGA was sunk today too. And again, floatplanes joined the attack with their 60kg bombs...
We´re wondering about the strange course of the enemy ships, instead of taking shelter in one of the Aussie coast ports they sailed on the open Sea.
And CV SARATOGA also had no CAP at all overhead...

Usually when a CV takes enough system damage, approximately 35-40 points worth, the carrier is unable to launch any fighters or bombers. The only operations could be to transfer aircraft to a nearby land base. Too bad the Saratoga was crippled in the first strike to do any good a few turns later.  It was probably the Captains decision to flee North and West away from the IJN KB that was chasing the remaining Allied escorts and transports south back to Noumea....

not much to report at the moment, pretty silent days now. The Allies keep their A/C restrainedly grounded, while the Empire has retreated to re-organize and re-fuel.

Many objectives seem to lay open, ripe for seizure. Most fingers are pointing towards Australia of course, however the eastern portion of the map looks much more tempting...
In any case, the USN has not much left over to counter our thrust. One carrier (the WASP) plus some surface craft won´t jeopardize our victory. KB will deal with them as with the still weak allied LBA.

IJ GHQ at Tokio and the top brass aboard IJHMS YAMATO are said to brew some kinda plan regarding the next moves. But nothing else than rumors have aired so far...

while closing in to the coast of Australia, the Imperial invasion fleet was attacked by several bomber squadrons operating from Townsville... They´re brave men, but lost almost fifty of their own to our CAP fighters. Except a small bomb hit on one warship the fleet is untouched so far.

We expect more fierce attacks to be released upon us soon...

After several troubles with embarking all those troops and coordinating them into a bold invasion armada, sailing together with the battle fleet and KB took more time than actually thought. We should investigate this little slip-up in order to avoid such things for future operations against Hawaii or the US West Coast...

But tonite, Imperial GHQ will determine the site of the initial landings. Stay tuned for the update...

Brisbane only has 2 squadrons of FBs Wirraway types...  It's Townsville and Charter Towers that has every MB & HB in OZ pounding both locations of Rockhampton and Cairns... so suppressing Brisbane won't really do any good except maybe lose a few IJN pilots... And Cooktown has all the other aircraft F, FB, DB, & MB pounding Cairns too...

this afternoon, the base at Milne Bay (Gili Gili) fell back into imperial possession, with a decent number of allied POWs...

BTW, there are no A/C at all based at Charter Towers... so the Allied propaganda seems still "operational"...

It appears that Ralf would not be content to have an autovictory of just 1 location with a level 5 airfield... He has set all his forces into owning every base in OZ....  a sad day for the Allied Commander of course there is nothing that can be done....

As stated by the enemy correctly, we plan not to capture just one single base. In fact, we are going to invade whole Australia!

Today, the next allied base changed ownership since we seized Cairns, along with a 12 burning Catalinas destroyed on the airstrip there...

Within days, more Aussie soil will fall to The Empire of Japan!

chasing remnants of the Cooktown garrison southwards, our IJA troops caught them last afternoon and they went POW after a quick fight...

In the meantime, our main forces are staging for the assault on Brisbane. Townsville will follow suit then.

It is with great pleasure to announce that the Allied Propaganda Senior Editor News Reporter Position has been filled. A retired New York Newspaper Publisher has relocated to Brisbane to take on the daunting task of reporting the South Pacific War-Time News.

Allied News HQ was temporarily off-line due to the sudden invasion of Rockhampton recently and the total destruction of the newspaper print shop and radio room.  Most of the civilian staff writers were evacuated prior to the initial beach landings of the enemy, unfortunately some of the senior staff were also Army Officers required to defend the Allied Base Force and were either killed or captured.

Now that there is a Senior Editor in charge of the newsroom, more propaganda will be forthcoming to the people back home in the USA and around the world.  The first of many broadcastings and publications are to strengthen the Allied Nations insistence that the enemy is being pushed back and most of the Japanese property previously occupied has either been retaken or sold to Australian private developers for hotels and resorts.

The Allied Propaganda Newsroom is very busy of late trying to let the people back home know that all is going well in the South Pacific War Against Japan.  Several Battleships have arrived in Noumea with many escort ships.  The only CVTF is the Wasp. Soon several Invasion Task Forces loaded with troops stationed in Noumea will set out to capture Irau, Lunga and Tulagi in the Solomon Islands... In the West, HQ SWPAC Commanders continue the never ending battle against the enemy with every available aircraft including those shot up and damaged with pilots that are beyond fatigue levels and fearful morale issues. The Troops in Botany Bay continue to have many late night parties.....  tune in tomorrow for the latest Allied News....
