I have a few questions that I haven't found answers to in the manual. (They may be in there, but I'm still trying to digest it).
I'm playing v6.1.
Any insights from the experienced players would be helpful:
1. When choosing my forces, I noticed that the "Display Map" button showed a different map when choosing my primary forces then when choosing my supporting units. Is this a bug?
2. I also found that I wasn't told the nature of the first battle (in this case, defend against counterattack) until after I had deployed my forces (incorrectly as it turns out). Is this on purpose (a way of mimicking the uncertainty of battle) or am I doing something wrong?
3. A few turns into the battle, I got my first taste of heavy artillery directed at me (why do they hate me so much?) I remember reading somewhere that shooting artillery leaves traces of smoke. I've got "limited intel" turned on, so I'm wondering if the enemys artillery does this as well. I see a few white patches on enemys side of the map and I'm temped plaster those areas with artillery. Is this right?
4. And last. As this scenario is based in the jungle and the weather is giving me very limited visibility, most of my artillery strikes are unspotted. Occasionally, I see flames where my shells land instead of just smoke. Have I hit something (enemy troops, artillery) or have the trees just caught fire?
I hope to hear from you soon and look forward to learning more about this game.
Thanks,
MCS
Sorry can't help at 1 or 2 cuz never stumbled to such problems. 3.Artillery or mortars leave smoke traces only if they are onboard(mortars are onboard always). I have only once had onboard arty as most arty is offboard. You can see whether arty is on- or offboard by looking at it's description while you purchase it. 4.Trees are buring. Or perhaps enemy was having bit too much fun with their fires while toasting (do they do this is US?)marshmallows
