As doomtrader said in one his of posts we, I mean WI, originated form a modding community. Our journey started several years ago when we were changing/creating quite simple scripts responsible for events. A few years has passed since, but still we have a kind of special sentiment connected with this part of content in our games. In Storm over the Pacific there are something like 200 pure historical events and more flavour ones, but still there is a lot place for more of them. SoP engine has a lot of possibilities considering events so I would like to get know your opinion regarding those which are already in the game, but also I would like to encourage you to make your own proposals of new events that in your opinion are "must have" and/or "nice to have" in the game.

Of course as everything in our life also events have at least a few downsides, for example giving ToW experience especially PBEM players prefer limited number of events, but such issues are also to discuss here.

Is it possible to make an event that would trigger Soviet intervention if the Japanese don't garrison Manchuria?

Maybe not for 1.02, but most probably this can be done.

Also I think that should be addressed directly to the AI behavior, not simply to the events.

For Nomohan, make that a limited war where, after a few months there is peace. What ever territory is taken is kept.

For Lake Khasan.... thats only 3 weeks or 3 turns...... maybe double that before there is a peace?

I am not sure. I would have to look at map and test the event.

The timing is good, as it diverts attention and Japanese forces away from China.

So I say yes, include it and make it game playable.

IIRC during Battle of Lake Khasan loses were rather limited and there were no major movement of units. I see it rather as PP wastage then war (in terms of SOP).

[We have only a few days for discussion...]

I would like to see an event "tree" related to one of the odder weapons of WWII, the IJN's submarine aircraft carriers.

It may require a bit of work, but it would be cool.

How about: First, an event in late 1944, along the lines of "Submarine Aircraft Carrier Program" with the IJN given the choice to abort the program or continue it. Aborting it would maybe give a PP boost, while continuing it (the historical choice) would be no immediate impact.

If the choice of continuing it was chosen, then in the summer of 1945, the IJN would have the choice of "Submarine Aircraft Program Target Choice". The IJN would be able to choose to re-target the mission on surface vessels (historical choice), or to continue training for strike on Gatun Locks [Panama Canal]. If the historical choice was selected, I am not sure what to have happen, since the 2 I-400-class subs would have not been exactly like a sub group. We could maybe treat them like one, even so and just have a free sub group for the IJN. For the attack on the Panama Canal, we could have a third event with an X% chance of nothing and a 100-X% chance of an effectiveness drop or a social unrest increase to simulate a morale hit.

Without having looked at the manual yet, is there a list of all the existing events in the game under their respective scenarios?
I'd like to see a "Brisbane Line" defense trigger in the Australia Scenario, but I'm not sure if one is already there.

Yes Agent.

Mike Dubost, sorry, you are asking for a new type of unit. If I could choose to add one new unit to the game that would not be it.

umm.. then steal all the PP for one turn and make it zero for the Japanese?

That might slow a players plans.

Stealing of all PP for one turn is a very interesting idea, but also seems very harsh, at least at first glance.

Can we make the Nomonhan Incident with a fourWEEK random start and finish date?

That way the scenario is playable over and over again.

Concerning Lake Khasan, the Japanese have a good start in the game and can easily crush the Chinese.

I will offer a defense of my ideas.

I did try to fit it into the existing system as either a free sub group or an event-driven morale hit.

I admit that my main reason for wanting the submarine carriers is that they are neat gadgets and historical oddities. However, I also feel that this will add to the sense of the submarine as a new weapon, whose full uses and best employment were still being worked out by all navies.

In particular, the IJN spent a large amount of "skull sweat" on the submarine carrier, the float planes, and supply-transporting subs, and the US had a few subs designed between the 2 World Wars as "submarine cruisers". For that matter, I think I read somewhere that the first experiment with flying a float plane off a sub was in the late 1920s by the USN.

No matter what the call on this event is, I expect to have a large number of enjoyable hours playing this game.

Noticed that the Philippines doesn't /cannot pull off War Plan Orange (defense at Bataan).  The Japanese are always fast enough to prevent this.  And Singapore holds out longer than the Philippines.  Maybe it's the nature of the game mechanics. Singapore is a city with supply.  Bataan is not.

Could we add historical accuracy though events, like activation of WPO and we magically get a Corps in Bataan with regular supply each turn (though minimal).

@Razz, because it is already Sunday, at least for me, I may say that we got those events (7).
@jomni, I will examine possibilities.

What about a percentage possibility that Douglas Macarthur fails to escape from the Philippines?

Was he as influential as Yamamoto?
Would Macarthur's death or capture have been a morale loss as Yamamoto's was intended to be?
Could another general have taken over and done better?

Well changing of commanders is not implemented yet. No change in experience in rank. I don't think we can kill them either.

Not all commanders are working.

Naval and Air commanders do not gain experience. :(

I read somewhere that General Tomokatu was very influential is strategic planing in the USN.
