Hello all, just bought the game. I'm learning as I go. Can't wait for the patch and my hats off to all that have worked on the maps, etc. Looking good!

@GFreo:  welcome to the forum dude.  If you're really new to the game you might want to peruse the articles that have been published to bring you up to speed somewhat.  You can find the articles index here:  http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2231803

There's lots of friendly people who can answer questions so ask away and keep those cards and letters flowing in to the forum.  LOL.  Oh, and may I suggest you find a human opponent?  That's to maximize the fun.

I second larry's recomendation to find a human opponent. Also, I would suggest the Korea  scenario playing as the UN as a good first scenario to learn the basics of the game.

If you have any other games sell them now while you can get something for them. Once the "TOAW Bug" bites they will just sit on the shelf or on your hard drive just taking up room. Nothing is as good as TOAW. My only nigthmare is that there will never be a TOAW 4 or 5 etc.

Not sure about TOAW-V, but Ralph has said he is interested in revising the code beyond his 'patchwork' for the current version, to something 'more modern'. TOAW-IV, I too hope, will see the light of electrons and the presetntation on my LCD...

TOAW is a game that started with such potential. It looked for awhile like one format could represent any conflict. Unfortunately development has been usurped by the short-sighted. Of course these people don't see themselves as short sighted, merely focused on what 'they like' about the game.
What would be more likely, the next scenario released? What would your guess be? A scenario covering the current war where men are actually fighting and dying? Perhaps a conflict that hasn't been done say ...I don't know ...the Mexican American War? The Spanish American war? The Civil War? Or sadly, another interpretation of the Eastern front in WW2? As long as I know the answer to that question, I'll make this forum a very rare stop.

This game is being interpreted by developers in such a small box, you'd think the one benefit might be rapid upgrades. I'm currently enjoying Strat Command: Global WW2. I imagine there are other dev teams out there, looking to push the envelope more than this game.

I think he wants a grand strategy game that covers every recorded conflict in world history. Hey, who doesn't, right. Unfortunately, at present, what we have to deal with is a variety of grand strategy game that covers one conflict, say WWII ala HOI or Global conflict or WWI, etc. - or a theatre level game than can model many 20th century conflicts. He prefers the former I prefer the latter. Each person has to decide what they like for themselves. No harm - no foul.

Unfortunately not rare enough. How about you just stay underneath your troll bridge and don't come out ever?
