How do you evacuate troops from a hot beachhead? I invaded Roi Namur and found myself shock attacking level 4 fortified Japanese at 1-99 odds. I need to get my troops off, but amphibious TF have their 'load troops' button greyed out. What do I do? Thanks

Sometimes your transports will re-embark the troops by themselves.  If they don't, though, you can't order them back on the ships unless they're completely empty of men and supplies.  I had the same thing happen to me when my invasion force was too light at Roi-Namur, and I could reload the troops only after one of my TF's unloaded all the supplies.  I did get all the men off though.

When I tried Maloelap I had some bad luck, the armored unit landed several days ahead of everyone else, and they ended up wiped out by attrition before I could reload them.

I understand. Thanks for the help. I am off to give it a try.
