How can a provide support to land forces located on a hex which is not a base? More in detail: In summer 1942 there are lots of allied units on such hexagons being in contact with Japanese forces, especially in China, which have a serious lack of supply and, hence, are much less ready for battle.

Do you mean support or supply? Thats two different things. (I am assuming you mean supply though)

Basically a unit not located in a basehex pulls supplies from the nearest base. If that base has not enough supplies then
it checks on the next base and so on.
There is a maximum distance a supply draw is possible though, depending on how which terrain lies between the respective base and
the unit (check the manual for the exact maximums).
What you could try is pulling supplies to the bases located closest to the units by raising the bases supply requirements a bit, but
be aware that this could lead to a worse supply situation elsewhere.

As your area of concern is China I assume that you are generally low on supplies there.

Thanks for your reply! I indeed meant "supply". According to your suggestions I will push more supply to the closest base.

Be careful with taht settings though as bases try to stack 3 times the required supply. So if you set it to 2k it actually tries
to draw 6k, which often means that you have not enough present in the whole China area.
Sometimes you need to let units starve.

Btw: Combat ops increase supply demand by a high percentage. It´s wise not to attack too often with Chinese units.

If you have a transport or bomber unit nearby, you could air drop supplies. Not very effient, but fast.
