When you guys release "Combat Leader" would you possibly consider releasing the out of production Mega-Campaigns as free downloads?

Maybe package it with/as a "Gold" version of SPWAW 7.1.......

Just thought I'd ask..........:):):)

There has been some requests that the Mega-Campaigns be posted for download...don't know where Matrix stands on that issue.

However, if they did so I don't think they would or even should be posted for free. It's not to be mean spirited or anything...but a lot of people (myself included) paid for the campaigns...and it might p*ss off some people to then post them for free.

The even better reason for not just giving them away is the fact that Matrix uses that income to fund other projects....like CL. If they post the MC's for free a lot of possible funding dollars goes right out the window. Not to mention some people might be less likely to purchase a copy of CL when it comes out because they might wait to see if it too was eventually posted for free. Then you have a spiral effect....not go for a business.

I have my money for CL all set aside already :D and I can't wait to see the finished product. Sure it won't be free but with the track record of this company, at least I know the dollars will be spent to create quality add-on's and other new games. Can't always say that about other game labels!

Anyway, there's my two cents. :D

Your point makes sense if the MC's were still available for sale...............I'd love to be able to purchase the full set but I'm a little late to the party...........

It's not uncommon for a developer to provide for free or at extreme discount, an old product when the new flagship product comes out.............

Maybe they could bundle CL with the MC's as some sort of "Special offer"............

Either way it would be nice if some alternative method of acquiring the MC's was available....................I'd love to play through them..........

"IF" and when the Mega Campaigns become a dead end no sales coming in issue, yes I too would like to see it made an inclusion.

I have no desire to ask it be made a free download ever though. Same reason as was mentioned. Sets a bad trend.

But if the software is at a standstill and going no where, I would love to see it added to related games as a perk (even if a few bucks is effectively added to package deal).

Ideally the best solution though, is a collected works arrangement. Best of Mega Campaigns (complete with latest version software and all fixes that are available).
Some will say, but I already have such and such MC. Like that comment will matter to those that don't have it though.

I missed out on Desert Fox and Watchtower because of cash limitations. A year from now I will still think they are a nice possible purchase. But in time the software will get more and more unlikely to obtain.

that if sales for the MC's were lackluster perhaps bundling them with another product wouldn't be a bad idea....or perhaps the MC's could still be pay-for items as downloads for $9.99 or there abouts?

It's not that I'm against free downloads per say...it's just that the people at Matrix refined SP and gave us all a real treat for free once...not many companies would do that in the first place.

It's just my opinion that now, when the chips are down and funding is a requirement for future growth...I think we as a community need to help support our own habits... i.e. by making purchases.

Once CL breaks out...any MC at in price range of $10-$15 would still be a bargain in my eyes....and still put extra funds in the kitty for future projects.

ps...just in case anyone thinks it....I don't work for Matrix under the table either. lol :D
