Hi Chris,

I haven't seen this behavior before. If this happens again can you send me a PM at bretg80. I'd like to understand what you are running into as it may be a subtle defect that I haven't run across before.

Hi guys, probably the only person having a problem and I am sure it is a) simply solved & b) me. When ever I have a new saved set of combat reports it find them fantastically. Then when I close it down and reopen it later, it cannot find any reports at all. No settings have changed and stopping and restarting monitoring makes no difference. any ideas?

Chris

Attached Screen shot shows all my games (I set it from turn 1 start day) and you can see the selection is quite random). Running vista.

Hi, not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Combat Reporter picks up the first report (in which nothing actually happened around Guadalcanal) but then doesn't pick up following days...
Something I'm doing ?
Thanks
Chris

Just checked - if I set the date for a subsequent turn it works fine. I wonder if it's because the first day was blank

1. Love the tool!
2. Just noticed that when I got a report of something happening at Victoria Point, the map showed the location as Victoria, BC. FYI.

Any idea sir why I suddenly started getting this error? Something must have changed on my PC but can't seem to find out what. Java says latest version installed and all is well so a little baffled. Thanks.

The error you are getting is related to the fact that the JAVA VM is not able to get enough memory, or at least that is what is implied by the error message. You may have too many applications running or you may have installed a 64 bit version of Java by accident. Make sure you are running a 32 bit version of Java and that you don't have too many applications open.

One thing you may try is to run combatreporter first and then load WITPAE.

Now that's a bug. I'll see if I can correct that one

Funny as I had been using your tool for a long time and then suddenly stopped. I have 2G memory and 500M utilized. I changed 1024 to 768 in your Java Bat file and it works. For now anyway. Obviously something changed on my system so I'll dig into this some more. Thanks for your help and hints and also this great tool.

great. That works too and I'm glad you were willing to experiment with the memory settings. I didn't know it would work with 768, so that is good news. Thanks for using the tool and for the feedback.

I've recently started using a new computer and I have problems getting the combat reporter to run on this one. The problem seems to be with Java as I get the message (roughly translated from Dutch)
"Java was not recognized as internal or external task, program or batch-file" after which it ends. I've had similar problems getting WITP Tracker to work, but these were solved after I got a correct version of Java (v.6 update 21, running windows 7). Any idea what could fix this problem ? The previous computer ran windows XP and had several older versions of Java installed as well.

If you've installed java, the problem is a java pathing problem that can be fixed in a number of ways ...
1. Change the batch to point to java (you'll need to check where it's installed ... this is for 64 bit OS
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -splash:UV1024.jpg -Xmx1024m -jar combatreport.jar
pause

Thanks Mac Linehan, I'm glad you like it. I always use it when I play WitpAE.

More to come this fall. I'll be announcing the Combat Reporter feature request on the forum in mid September.

Feature request?  How about a reverse sort on the date so that the most recent results are on top.

Actually, why didn't I think of that before. Hmmm, shouldn't be too difficult. I look at it.

Just started using this and it looks great.

I have a problem though with the sightings reports. Even though I have several sub sightings near Annette Island, and the hex locations are different, the highlighted position shows Annette Island NOT where the sighting occurs. Can this be rectified please?

I found a solution. Simply I deleted last combat report.txt which Combat reporter loaded. After this another CR.txt load succesfull.

Bret, I'm getting this error. I had been running it fine for some time. I'm not running anything else at the time, and my machine is no slouch, so I'm puzzled.

First thanks for this great tool.
Now I have a suggestions, how about showing the hex coordinates when clicking manually on a hex, that would be useful for locations that the tool doesn't jump too for any reason.
